Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Stay in a nicely refurbished railroad car was a fun and unique experience. The included breakfast was excellent, and innkeepers could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The beauty of the area speaks for itself. Our only regret was we couldn’t stay longer. Highly recommend the Red Caboose!,

So glad we made reservations to stay and will definitely go back! We stayed in the lavender caboose, and it was lovely. Beautifully decorated with so many "extras" and nice touches. Brunch in the morning was fabulous, and again, everything done so nicely. Great service as well.

45th Anniversary Vacation Celebration in the NW was our reason to be in this area. We stayed in Track #5- theme inside: lavender and color outside:yellow; our wedding colors. My hubby surprised me with this booking- hitting it out of the park. comfy bed, jetted tub and storage for luggage so none were in few at any time.We enjoyed 3 wonderful tasty and beautiful many course breakfasts; all served hot and delicious.Variety hot and cold beverage selections served by the pleasant hostess Jaime. Leif remained in the kitchen until dessert- yes, every breakfast had a dark chocolate something served chilled on chilled plates. Jamie and Leif: thank you. We have told everyone we know, shown them our pictures and we will be back. XOXO, Jon & Jo (7/28/1973)

Extraordinary attention to detail in the renovated ( grape escape ) caboose, coupled with the same attention applied to breakfast in the dining car along with the very welcoming hosts means an enjoyable stay in an ultra quiet setting. Close to downtown and shopping, also other places of interest in the area.

Our stay at this B&B was fun and unique, The Grape Escape Caboose was cozy and clean. The Hosts are very friendly. The breakfast was very good, wished we had stayed another night to enjoy another breakfast! The only thing I would change would be to have arranged dinner at our Caboose to spend more time there, either a cold dinner or request use of a bbq. Looking forward to returning!

We had a very nice stay at the Red Caboose. The breakfast alone was fabulous!! The room was super cute with much attention to details. But, the internet was down so no TV to relax with and we really missed having a shower....... but enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub! No privacy with the bathroom since the doors don't come down to the floor which felt a little ackward. But - we are glad we stopped and have good memories of our stay.

From the warm welcome to the wonderfully themed caboose rooms and the unbelievably tasty four course breakfasts, it was a perfect weekend get away! If you are looking for a unique and quiet B&B, I highly recommend the Red Caboose Getaway

What a unique and fun experience! Leif and his wife were very hospitable and very accommodating with our late arrival. We reserved two Cabooses, which were both very beautifully decorated. Breakfast was absolutely incredible as well. I felt like I was in a 5-star restaurant. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely loved our "Grape Escape" room! Very cozy and adorable. Breakfast was incredible and set us up well for our day of hiking in Olympic National Park. Telling our friends we slept in a converted train car inspired many ooh's and ah's. This was definitely one of the most unique places we've stayed! A little tip from us: There's a winery not to far away, Olympic Cellars, grab a bottle or two from there and some nibbles from the grocery store and tuck yourselves in for the night with the fireplace.

I have, once again, had a fantastic time at the Red Caboose Getaway! I love staying the night in the decorated cabooses. They are warm and inviting, complete with a gas fireplace and spa tub. The gourmet breakfast served in an authentic dining car is a wonderful experience, and the food is amazing too. I have visited twice and will most likely come again! Red Caboose offers a great couples' escape.

I would call this a quirky, unique little spot! If you want luxury- it’s not for you. That said, the caboose we stayed in was very cozy and spotless. The owners are the most gracious of hosts & the Location is excellent for exploring Sequim. The breakfast was delicious and served on elegant china. All in all- a truly fun experience! I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something out of the norm!

We stayed in the circus car and enjoyed the fun decorations, whirlpool tub, comfortable bed, and opportunity to watch circus-themed DVDs. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay, with delicious food and great service, all in context of a perfect re-creation of a first class dining car. The hosts paid attention to every detail, including a souvenir menu with the current date. So glad we stayed at the Red Caboose Getaway.

This overnight was a surprise for my wife. She was thrilled when we pulled into the driveway and I told her it was a B & B. The Orient Express caboose was just the right mix of nostalgia and modern convenience. We watched the movie (the one starring Albert Finney). The breakfast the next morning was one of the best in my 71 years. I am not an acventurous diner but each course was absolutely great. Don't miss the second to the last if they are still serving the crepe with blueberries and whipped cream.

It is a unique B&B in the caboose accomodations, fun themes in each one. Ours was a western theme, complete with bullet holes in the windows. TV pixelated a lot. On the property is a small pond with LOTS of entertaining ducks and widgets (?). Very nice breakfast in the silver eagle club car. It was a fun stay.

This was an amazing place to stay. It was fun to spend the night in an old railway car. We were in the lavender car, track #5. We spent only one night there for our anniversary and the owners made us feel very welcome. I had requested some chocolate covered strawberries and they were waiting for us in the mini-fridge. The owner took some time to tell me about fun things to do in the area and provided a map. The room was comfortable and clean. The jetted tub was amazing and the old time fixtures they used made it really interesting. They provide a TV with a DVD player, which worked but the way it is wired had some background hum, which for an AV Geek like me was distracting. This didn't detract from the experience enough for me to remove anything from the rating, though. Breakfast was really good. A 4 course meal for breakfast seemed like a crazy idea to me, but the portions were reasonable and the food was good. If they had done dinner too I think it would have been amazing because they chef as great. Overall a great experience and we intend to go back when the new Casino Royale car opens as that one seems super fun.

We had never been up to the upper portion of the Olympic peninsula and decided to go to Victoria. I found a groupon discount for 2 nights and stayed for 3 nights. The dining car was my favorite part of the weekend. It was beautifully decorated with fine dishes and white linens. The food was absolutely delicious and generous. The Orient Express train car was a treat to stay in. There was two seats up a level so we could catch the sunshine and relax. The large jetted tub was very nice. No shower though.

My parents recently moved to Sequim and recommended my husband and I stay here while visiting after they had such a great time here. I think they stayed under the previous owners, but our stay was just as great as my parents said it would be. The bed in the Orient Express was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Such a cozy, quiet and relaxing place, in a great location to see the sights in the area, and the owners are very nice. The breakfast was delicious - although very sweet - but definitely recommended as part of the experience. My husband has very high standards, and he loved this place (as did I). You will love it too!

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon. We both love trains and especially old private cars so just that was enough to reel us in. We were expecting a cute little place that mostly relied on the charm of staying in the cabooses to get by; What I wasn't expecting was the high level of service and attention to detail that made Red Caboose a fantastic place to stay regardless of the gimmick. The rooms are small compared to a regular motel or hotel or B&B, but not at all lacking for comfy furnishings and little luxuries. It was perfect for our intimate, romantic stay. The breakfast part of the bed & breakfast was again, completely above and beyond in it's quality; four courses, all delightful, delicious and inventive. When you reserve your room they ask for dietary restrictions and preferences and it's obvious they take special care to take them into account. I am allergic to nuts and so a berry and walnut loaf was substituted for a nut free version, specially made for us and presented as darling little mini-muffins. I want to make special note of how much of a joy it was to interact with the two proprietors of the B&B. In particular; due to a mix-up on our part, we had to leave a day early. They offered a refund and were completely helpful and understanding. When we return to the Olympic Penninsula I will absolutely be booking us in for another stay at the Red Caboose.

What a wonderful getaway for unusual lodging adventures. The food was wonderful, as was the service. The couple who handled things were polite, friendly, and made breakfast feel like we truly were in the Dining Car for the Orient Express. Upscale crystal and china with linen napkins made even the coffee taste better. Although the coffee was actually my only culinary complaint (Seattle has so much good coffee that it was a shame to not taste something rich in the pretty teacup). They made up for it though with the most delicious orange glazed pull apart and perfect mini quiche. The rooms vary caboose to caboose so I can only tell you what ours was like. The bed was extremely comfortable though we did have a hard time regulating the heat because it was pretty cold outside. If I liked baths, there was a beautiful jacuzzi tub ensuite. It was laid out beautifully, and the refinished original floors were beautiful too. If romance is your getaway idea this is a winner...but don't choose the clown car (Circus theme) if you are afraid of clowns. I'd go again for sure but I'd pick one of the cars that have a shower in them. Keep up the good work ...this was a great home base to explore Sequim and Port Townsend.

Everything was awesome especially the Owners. Excellent service friendly people. Only downfall is the drippy ceiling in the toilet room and of course that we chose to come in the winter instead of summer because we have a feeling we would to come visit in the summertime. David and Michelle

we drove to this fantastic setting of a round house style park where everything was literally picture perfect from the ducks on the pond to the full aluminum dining car. It was an extremely comfortable room with an endless supply of hot water for the huge copper soaker tub. Breakfast was an experience we won't forget for a long time, form the freshly squeezed juice to the baked banana the entire meal was perfect.

We stayed one night in the western-themed caboose and it was fantastic! The theming was great and even included a selection of western-themed movies and a refrigerator that looked like safe. We also appreciated the coffee pot in room. Be aware that the cabooses with bathtubs do not have separate showers (but that wasn't a problem for us). The four-course breakfast in the dining car was excellent and the service was superb. I highly recommend staying here!

My siblings and I got together and planned our parents 50th wedding anniversary moon weekend at Red Caboose Getaway. When I purchased there caboose I was hopeful that they would have a good time. I did not expect to hear so much excitement in my mothers voice when she called me from her caboose to tell me how wonderful everything was. My mom told me that they have never experienced any thing like this in the 50 years that they have been married. She said the caboose was plush and very romantic. She also told me about the wonderful breakfast they had every morning that was as she said "cooked by a chef like the ones you see on TV". When my parents got back home they couldn't stop talking about how thankful they were to have had such a wonderful weekend. i am very thankful for my parents and their better than expected weekend at Red Caboose Getaways. I hope to take my husband there on one of our anniversaries. Thank you for service we appreciate you Charlotte & Olaf.

We loved our stay at the Red Caboose Getaway-- it was comfortable, unique, and just the thing for my husband the engineer (the mechanical kind, not the train kind). The owners definitely ran the place with love, and they took extra care with breakfasts that truly felt like a special treat in an old-style railway dining car. Even though we were the only ones there for one of the nights, we still got the full breakfast treatment-- and they went above and beyond to accommodate my very strict dietary requirements. Our "Lavender" Caboose had lots of nice touches like chocolate on the pillows, wine glasses in the room, and battery "candles" (because real ones would be a fire hazard). Our room had a jetted tub which was nice-- but do be warned that this caboose has only the tub, not a shower too. That was fine with us, but if a shower is essential for you-- pick a different caboose. Along with modern touches like tv, a fridge, and that tub-- the historic nature of the caboose was preserved-- right down to leaving in a bunch of the original pipes and ladders up to the cupolas. Not sure if we'll find ourselves in Sequim again, but if we do the Red Caboose Getaway would be our very first choice for accommodations.

We were bringing a Port Angeles (where the Crabfest was in full swing) ferry back late from Victoria so Olaf honored our request for a late check in and made it easy for us to check in. Thoroughly enjoyed all the train themed items in our caboose plus cozy robes and welcoming chocolates. Unique comfortable fun stay. Excellent, first class, breakfast serving many local food items. Portions were just the right size so one could enjoy all the courses.

I had booked this B&B as a surprise for my friends traveling with me. They were so surprised when we pulled up to cabooses! Our friends were in Casey Jones and loved all the RR memorabilia. We enjoyed the lavender car. We had videos with a lavender theme and music CDs which we put on and felt a million miles from anywhere. I loved sitting up in the cupola reading and watching the world go by. The breakfast was as good as other reviewers have stated. Olaf showed us inside some of the other cars which we really enjoyed. He is a wealth of information! The only suggestion I would offer them is to tidy up the area around the cabooses. Landscaping could use some attention. All in all a wonderful stay!!

My husband and I stayed at the Red Caboose as part of our anniversary celebration. We rode in from Port Angeles on the Olympic Discovery trail. The Red Caboose Getaway is conveniently located right off the trail. We enjoyed our stay very much apart from the Caboose not having A/C. It was a very hot day and the fan we had in there did nothing to help. Wifi didn't work as well. Breakfast was amazing. Definitely the best breakfast we had ever had at any B&B.

I took my wife here for her birthday celebration and wow I got some major points with my wife lol! The unique atmosphere of the themed bnb coupled with the privacy of each individual caboose made for an absolutely amazing getaway (watching the sunset in the upper part of a caboose was pretty neat for my wife especially). The original owners are retiring and son and his wife are taking over... Their customer service and personalities are a much welcome change in an overal rude world! And the food! Man can that guy cook! If you stay here you will eat some absolutely delicious AND beautiful plates of food. Food, customer service, peaceful atmosphere there was nothing lacking. A must go and my wife and I will be going once or wife a year.

Staying at the Red Caboose was a great addition to visiting the lavender farms in August of 2017. We are a young couple in our early 20's and found that there wasn't much to explore in Sequim past 5 PM as the stores closed early. However, the Red Caboose was a great place to relax and enjoy each other's companies. Upon arrival, Olaf greeted and walked us to our room. My boyfriend and I were both in awe at how well designed the room was. We stayed in the western caboose and it truly stuck to its theme. This is the most unique bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at. Though the accommodation was lovely, the onsite dining was a little lacking. The food that was served during our stay was very sweet. We were expecting a little more savory. However, I appreciated that all ingredients were local. It was a nice touch. I'd still recommend others to stay, but be wary that this may be a bit pricey for some people.

The Red Caboose was a great way to start our explorations of the Olympic Peninsula. We were impressed with the way every detail inside the caboose was considered with such care. And breakfast was truly exceptional, with blackberries from the property! The proprietors were welcoming and showed us great hospitality. We didn't have much time to explore Sequim, but did spend an evening at the marina on the bay nearby, enjoying the view and eating a delicious meal at the dockside restaurant there.

My sister referred me to this unique and whimsical B&B... and am I EVER GLAD SHE DID! What a fantastic night we had in "The Western". Every nook and cranny was filled with a fun western artifact. What a complete and total labour of love! Breakfast was astonishing and definitely a major,, almost theatrical, affair. Olaf and Charlotte laid out a thoughtful, delicious menu, and served it in a style that is a throwback to another era. I wish I had worn more formal attire. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The only thing I would suggest is a common outdoor area for the guests to meet one another if they so chose. A wonderful B&B experience. Thank you!!!!!!

My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Red Caboose Getaway previously, and just returned to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We stayed in the Grape Escape this time and overall had a lovely time. Olaf and Charlotte are delightful and the food (as before) was incredible beyond expectation. My husband had a dietary restriction that they did a fantastic job working around it and providing amazing options for him. The only sad note to our stay is that we noticed since our previous visit things are falling a bit into disrepair. Nothing was totally rundown or anything, but it's time for some updates and a little more upkeep that I'm sure it's becoming difficult for the owners to keep up with. We heard that their son will be taking on the business soon and we are hoping that his addition will help breathe some renewed life into this amazing and unique retreat. We had a great trip and hope to be able to return for our 10 year anniversary as well.

The Red Caboose Getaway was a wonderful and unique overnight. The owners have created a one of a kind experience. Sleeping in a beautifully and creatively redecorated caboose was very enjoyable. Breakfast in the dining car was a culinary delight! Train themed music, friendly and attentive service, a chance to meet and chat with the other guests while enjoying an outstanding breakfast, was the perfect way to begin our day in Sequim. I would love to stay again and I recommend it to anyone looking for a new and different experience in vacation lodging.

Phenomenal service - room, supplies, and advice. Beautiful decorum and attention to detail - name tags, uniforms, table settings, furnishings and rooms. The food was 5 star meals - and even more appreciated, made custom for my diet, vegan and gluten free. The 2nd night I couldn't make breakfast due to being on a mountain and they graciously made a special exception to package it for my partner. Hers was warm but mine was spectacular even later in the day. I love trains. I love bed&brealfasts. And home made gourmet meals - garden fresh. Having been to B&Bs all over the country and the world, there's nothing like this one and worth the trip and effort!

Another fantastic stay and great breakfast. The Grape Escape has two very comfortable beds. The copper tub is unique. The traveller is greeted with a welcoming fireplace - that did not put out heat in July - just provided an ambience. Breakfast was amazing again. The only comment I could make is that it would be better if the laundrey detergent used on the linens could be non scented, then everything would be perfect. Very clean. Amazing experience. The owners are personable and remember unique things about likes and dislikes for a year. That is really incredible.

The owners are so terrific, knowledgeable and personable. They take great pride in what they do and do everything superbly. This was our 2nd stay and we can't wait to keep going back until we have stayed in every caboose since they are all different. We talk it up to all our family and friends. Great accommodations, great food, great people, a unique and memorable place that always satisfies 100%.

I spent three nights in the BN Circus caboose in mid-July 2017, and loved every minute of it. Olaf has invested tremendous energy into decorating each caboose with a different theme, and finding the decorating essentials to create cabooses that cover circus, western, wine, and other themes. I felt that a key feature of my caboose was the privacy I enjoyed, since I did not have neighbors on the other side of a wall. I did not have to be concerned if I was bothering my neighbors with TV or anything else, nor did I hear them. A marvelous experience was breakfast in the Burlington diner. Not only was it a treat to eat in a diner that actually ran on the Zephyr routes on the Burlington RR, but also Charlotte creates amazingly delicious breakfasts. The ambience is terrific, and both Olaf and Charlotte go out of their way to make all the guests feel comfortable. I am looking forward to returning several times to experience the different themed cabooses. I highly recommend finding a way to spend time at the Red Caboose Getaway - and more than one night would be richly rewarding.

It was fun building the Red Caboose Getaway B&B but the real reward is having our guests(friends) enjoying it.

Our weekend getaway was such a treat spent relaxing in the vintage luxury of the Orient Express. After a challenging bike ride from Victoria BC Canada, via the Coho, the huge jetted tub was very welcome! The caboose was so beautifully decorated with the theme to the last detail with objects from the actual Orient Express and posters of the movie, Murder on the Orient Express- as well as the actual DVD to watch! Very comfortable bed and lovely linens made for a restful sleep. We loved the classic dining car with fine china and crystal on which we were served an elegant four course breakfast. The individual printed menu for our day was a lovely touch. All in all it was a wonderful time and hosts Charlotte and Olaf are to be commended for bringing this fantasy to life. Highly recommended!

My spouse and I stayed in the lavender themed caboose in July. It was an eclectic place for our anniversary. Olaf, and wife, Charlotte, were gracious hosts. Olaf greeted us, explained the local area, sites and restaurants to dine at. It was helpful. The setting with the other cabooses was close to town and John Wayne Marina where we had dinner one night. The room was comfortable except a mattress that could be replaced. If you want a shower, there is none in the room. The cupola gives you a nice view from the top of the caboose and provided a welcome breeze when the temperature got warmer. The two breakfasts were very good and enjoyed eating the vintage dining car. A memorable experience and weekend.

Thank you for the kind words and valuable input.
For Track # 5 we elected to have a relaxing 2 person whirlpool tub instead of a "rush to work" shower.
Even though the mattress is only 2 years old we are looking at replacing it with a more firm one.

On a bike trip through North West Washington, we stayed at the Red Caboose. The accommodation was fabulous. We all really enjoyed our rooms. We had a wonderful experience staying in the "Grape Escape" caboose. I would highly recommend it. There were even DVD's available to watch that matched the theme of the room. The enormous tub was a real pleasure and the breakfast was outstanding. 10+ stars all the way around. R & R, Omak, WA

This was a delightful and charming place to stay for an overnight retreat into an older era of train travel. The Orient Express Caboose was done in theme to a T. Beautiful mementoes of the actual train, and posters of the movie "Murder on the Orient Express"; not to mention the actual movie available to enjoy! the grounds are beautifully kept with rambling English style plantings of Shasta daisies, roses and other lovely blooms. We slept very soundly in the comfy queen size bed after a long, hot soak in the jetted tub. The Dining car was also a treat as the menu of the day was printed in high quality card and inks - no shortcuts were taken - on either the presentation or the content and quality of the servings. Beautifully prepared and presented on linen, fine china and crystal with all the old time class and attention to detail. Our needs were anticipated and met with flourish! Highly recommend staying here with hosts Olaf and Charlotte.

We spent our vacation hiking the National Parks in Washington. As a surprise, I booked us one night at the Red Caboose. What a wise decision that was. Our stay was one of the top highlights of our trip. Olaf and Charlotte have customer service perfected. The room was clean, the bed slept well, and the food was amazing. You think your stay is great and then you experience the dining car and it sends greatness over the top. I would fly from Georgia to Washington just to stay here again.

Highly recommend this place for a unique stay. The breakfast in a 1930 vintage Silver Eagle is an experience I'll never forget. Over the years the log books were kept in the caboose. Review after review was extremely positive. I couldn't find one entry that was negative even a negative comment. Olaf and Charlotte have tapped into the into something special with their concept.

My wife and I stayed a night in the Lavender themed yellow caboose. The bed was comfortable, the caboose was cozy and the jetted tub romantic. In the morning we were treated to a delicious 4 course breakfast during which the owner/host visited with us at our table. We found him to be friendly and engaging, and we really enjoyed talking with him about the history of the B&B. Don't expect plush luxurious accommodations, but you can count on plenty of cozy comfort and authenticity in a unique setting. We will be back.

The Red Caboose Getaway is easily our favorite place in the Northwest. The breakfasts that Charlotte creates are exceptional and always make us excited to see what she comes up with next. Olaf's knowledge of his railway cars and fine attention to detail put the whole place over the top. With a strong focus on the fun and whimsical approach to the B&B scene, the Red Caboose delivers a great experience across the board. Love this place and will return many times over. We only have one car left to have stayed in them all. You can't go wrong staying here, ever.

I was able to pull off the surprise of a lifetime for my husband's birthday. He has always loved trains and while we traveled one time on the train for a vacation, I was not thrilled with it. This was my way of giving him the chance to sleep on a train and knew that I didn't have to feel the rails under me! We loved the themed trains and chose to spend our time in the Orient Express. The Jacuzzi tub was just what we needed to end a day of driving. The gas stove gave warmth throughout the car and the breakfast.... AMAZING! I had read in the reviews about the breakfast but could not have imagined it being this fabulous! Charlotte and Olaf were wonderful hosts and we so enjoyed talking to them while we were having breakfast. We had been asked about allergies and things that we could not eat but never thought of the one food that can't be taken with a specific medication my husband takes. He declined one of the courses as soon as he realized that he could not have that with his meds and within minutes, he had another "option" delivered to the table. We certainly were not expecting that. You won't be disappointed if you have a day or two at the Red Caboose Getaway in Sequim. I think we might go back and stay in the Grape Express next time!

We wanted to stay in a caboose as we teach for a railcar class and travel the United States. Who would have thought that this is the best one in the U.S! Wow! A fantastic setting of several themed cabooses to choose from, all reasonably priced and every detail was thought out. From the softest bed, to the jacuzzi tub, robes, fireplace, themed movies, darling use of the captain chairs and ability to utilize the toilet area inside the caboose. It seemed as though we had stepped back in time. The best part was the breakfast! In a Zepher dining car! Beautifully and meticulously decorated, china, linen tablecloths, and Olaf, our waiter. His wife is a gormet chef who prepared a 5 course, mouth watering breakfast, with all the trimmings. We felt as though we were in 1st class all the way!

We spent two nights at the Red Caboose Getaway and were thoroughly happy. Each caboose has a different theme interior, though they are all pretty cool. We stayed in the "grape escape" car which had a wine motif, and our host showed us through several other cars, and gave us the tour of all the little details. It was great fun. Breakfast is different every day and is phenomenal. They have a dining car where breakfast is served with white linen, china and nice period music. It was a gourmet experience. We love it and HIGHLY recommend it!

We had a wonderful stay at the Red Caboose Getaway. Our caboose, The Western, was charming, filled with fascinating memorabilia and utterly unique. The bed was comfortable, we loved the claw-foot bathtub and everything we needed was available. Sitting in the engineers chairs with a glass of wine and a good book was a real highlight. As was the breakfast the next morning. Wow! That was something special. The dining car is a beautiful vintage piece with fine linens and china, period decorations, and fresh flowers. The food was amazing. Really, amazing! One of the best meals we had on our holiday. I'll be making the baked bananas next time I want to impress my guests! The owners, Charlotte and Olaf, were lovely, friendly, knowledgeable people who tolerated our endless questions with patience and grace :) We always look for places that differ from the boring standard hotel/motel and this place fit the bill! Upon arrival we were met and shown to our caboose. It surpassed our expectations. As we had cycled to the location from Port Angeles we were given directions to great restaurants and other sites to cycle to. We were also kindly loaned a tarp to keep our bikes dry for our morning ride to our next destination. The breakfast was lovely and we had what we could not finish wrapped up for a snack on the road. We would not hesitate to recommend the Red Caboose or to stay again on our next trip along the Olympic Discovery Trail.

This is an amazing place. Old railway caboose units converted to boutique accomodation, sounds a little odd but infact works incredibly well. Olaf's interest and knowledge of American railway history really shows through. Highly recommended. AP. London. UK

Our stay at the Red Caboose was absolutely outstanding. Right off we knew it was was going to be amazing since our family is train obsessed and have ways wanted to stay in cabooses. We have 5 people, so we needed two cabooses. We stayed in the Grape Escape (which accommodates 3) and the Orient Express. The detail and creativity that our hosts had put into making each "room" beautiful and unique was greatly appreciated. However, this B and B is so much more than a bunch of old train cars. The cabooses were emaculate and comfortable with beautiful bathtubs and comfortable beds. The four course breakfast in the dining car was incredibly special. We were unprepared for how wonderful it would be. The food was delicious and catered appropriately to our vegetarian children. Charlotte and Olaf were charming as is their exquisite dining car. Our whole stay was incredible--definitely the highlight of our trip to Olympic National Park.

What an incredible stay in the Red Caboose Getaway! Perched on tracks in the center of an immaculately manicured property, the cabooses are brightly painted and obviously tended with loving hands. Inside our wine-country themed caboose ("The Grape Escape"), we discovered many amenities that transformed our "escape-the-stress-of-life" weekend into an "I-feel-amazingly-refreshed!" weekend. From bubble bath to a fully-stocked coffee/tea station, this hideaway didn't disappoint. One of our favorite thoughtful details was the cleverly curated collection of wine-themed DVDs, from which we enjoyed Bottleshock, starring Alan Rickman. The 5-course breakfast in the Zephyr dining car was deliciously inventive - no menu cliche's here! - and had us saying "wow!" at each course. We especially enjoyed the many framed, antique dining car menus lining the walls - a glimpse into yesteryear. If you enjoy unique accommodations that spark the imagination, but don't want to skimp on traditional comforts, then the Red Caboose Getaway is the place for you.

My husband and I stayed at the Red Caboose getaway in the 'western caboose'. It was so charming. Every little detail was thought of, from bedside chocolates to western themed DVDs to watch. The bed was comfortable and we awoke to birds singing and frogs croaking in the center pond. The breakfast was amazing - 3 courses plus little 'desert' bite. First off id like to note that the app would not let me give 5 stars on the review categories otherwise I would've across the board. So now for the Red Caboose Getaway... We absolutely loved it! The caboose's were really really cool! And the accommodations were fantastic. My fiancee and I stayed in the "Grape Escape". It was wonderful! Very comfortable, quiet and extremely unique. The location is great as well. They're close enough to town for convienance, but also Just off the path enough to make you feel as tho your away from society. The breakfast they serve is second to none! Hands down the best I've ever had. They also have a small pond with a bunch of ducks. We fed them a little wheat bread in the mornings.( very fun) All together this place makes for a very memorable trip. Charlotte and Olaf are wonderful folks that clearly take pride in what they do and it reflects in the getaway. Altogether I give the expirance an 11 out of 10. It's very unique and a great change vs the general hotel type stay. Go to the Red Caboose Getaway!!!!!

This year, my husband and I stayed in The Orient Express rail car at the Red Caboose B&B. Everything was perfect during our stay. The bed was large and comfy; the hot tub, roomy and bubbly and with soft towels and robes to use afterwards; the DVD selections were old movies with excellent plots; everything was clean--even up top where we sat in chairs overlooking the duck pond and could watch the waterfowls' antics. As for breakfast, Charlotte proved to be a true chef by the way everything was prepared and one's palate pleasured. And Olaf? He served us with a wide smile and engagingly, told us some fine tales of his and Charlotte's adventures running a B&B. DO give this one a try! -Morris and Sharon

My husband is very resistant to B&Bs, but this one had trains! He had a blast talking with the proprietor about the various railway cars. He was even impressed with the western decor in our caboose. It was comfy, cozy, clean, and filled with amusing little touches. The dining car (yes, a real one from 1934) was amazing - beautiful linens, china and silver. The food was three courses of gastronomic adventure - fare that I have never seen an any other B&B. We will definitely be back, and my husband won't whine about it.

My wife and I stayed in the Casey Jones caboose and can't say enough good things about it. The caboose was very comfortable as well as fun and quirky as you might imagine. Every detail about the place, from the decoration to the music during breakfast was well thought out and perfectly placed. The highlight as you might have guessed from other reviews was the breakfast. I have never had such an amazing breakfast.....ever. The service was 5 star level and the food was even beyond that. From the website the place looks great, but the photos don't remotely do it justice. It's far better in person. My husband and I stayed in the Western caboose at Red Caboose Getaway. I had a really tough time finding an affordable place for 1 night on an August weekend in the Sequim/Port Angeles area. Most B and B's in the area have a 2 night minimum during this peak season, and chain hotels were also very expensive with all of the weekend festivals in the area. Our experience at Red Caboose was really fun, affordable, and accommodating. The Western is decorated to the theme and included lots of western movie DVD's as well. The room features small swinging saloon doors into the bathroom, so if you need absolute privacy for bathing, you may want to choose a different space. The claw foot tub is really fun though, and the toilet is in it's own private stall. Since there is no air conditioning, the room was very warm when we arrived in the afternoon, but it cooled down as the evening progressed and the sun set. By the time we went to sleep, the temperature was very comfortable. The setting is lovely with a duckpond and lavender bushes, and the breakfast was the best we've ever had at a B and B. The dining car is very cool, and you feel as if you're transported to a time when people enjoyed full dining experiences during train travel. The food and service were amazing. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked the Casey Jones caboose for a two night stay. Check-in at 4:30pm was smooth and very personable thanks to Olaf (one of the owners) who gave us a quick tour of the grounds and our caboose. Recommendations for lunch and dinner were "spot-on" and no need for breakfast recommendations except "don't be late". Not a problem for us as the well appointed dining car (from 1937) was a mere 5 feet from our caboose. Breakfast was unbelievable, a four course gourmet treat. The whole stay must really be experienced. Our pleasure just kept growing and growing. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend RCG to those we care about.

The stay at the Red Caboose was very fun!. We stayed in the western-themed caboose and I enjoyed looking at all the different treasures the owners had found to decorate. It was a neat experience. The breakfast was A MAZE ing. Not only was the food A++++, but we really enjoyed talking with Olaf, the owner about the area and trains. It was just a really neat experience!

Everything you want when staying away from home: comfort, cleanliness, quiet, privacy, and great food!
5 sur avril 01, 2015
The purpose of our weekend at the Red Caboose B & B was meant to be memorable. The Caboose rather than a motel/hotel option was ideal because of the privacy plus the bed was extra comfy. But the bonus of the B & B was the elegant serving of the breakfast. The china table settings plus the silver dinnerware and each unique serving piece. Very, very elegant!! Each of the four servings were presently as in a very high class and expensive restaurant. One felt very unique and "wealthy" to have the special attention in the Burlington Zephyr dining car. The entire weekend was a special treat to always be remembered!

My husband and I went tot he Red Caboose B &B because we liked the idea of staying in a train car and wanted something not too far from home. We live in WA, and have passed the RC B&B several times. We chose to stay in the Great Escape, the winery themed train. It was beautiful, clean and very thoughtfully decorated, not overdone. We loved the little perks: the chocolates, the mini fridge placed in a wine barrel, the HUGE soaking tub, the heated tile floors in the tub area, the wi-fi, the electric fireplace and the tasteful wineries decor. Our welcome was very warm and we were shown our room and even given an exterior tour of the other trains, along with description of two trains that were yet to be renovated. We slept well on the very comfortable bed. The town of Sequim is quiet and not very awake on a Sunday morning, but just a little further are the mountains and bigger towns. It was nice to not have a lot of noise by the trains, so the serene atmosphere was pleasant. The three course breakfast was one of my favorite things about our stay. It was fabulous. Both my husband and I loved the local roast coffee, the hand prepared juice, the delicious and creative courses and the to die for fresh baked bread. We cannot say enough to recommend this wonderful, creative over-night adventure. Try it out for your next vacation, possibly when the lavender fields start to bloom!

We loved our stay at the Red caboose getaway... It was an experience to remember. The attention to detail was amazing. We were thankful to Olaf in Charlotte for such an outstanding dinning car meal... The two person tub, the real flowers, the cozy fire place... We cant wait to take another ride. It was a one night stay to get away from our normal lives, it was so quite and relaxing... We LOVED it!

It was wonderful. Stayed in the Orient Express. Olaf and Charlotte were great. Charlotte is an amazing chef. Maybe the best breakfast I've ever had! The room was amazing, my only complaint is it got a little cold at night. But they provided plenty of blankets, and it was winter after all. Loved the Jacuzzi tub, and the DVDs they provided.

My wife and I visited Red Caboose last fall. We were blown away by Olaf the friendly conductor who showed us around the rail yard. Everything is authentically restored. The breakfast was the quality dining of years gone by, candle lit breakfast table and lots of wonderful breakfast surprises, delicious! I loved the wild west Caboose, I think next time we will stay in the Orient Express. Thanks Olaf and Charlotte

Thank you for your kind review.
While we have immensely enjoyed building our place and entertaining our guests( friends) the last 15 years it's gotten more than this 71 year old can handle.

The caboose was such a delight to stay in, the bed was cozy, the fireplace on created a romantic atmosphere, and the soaker tub for 2 was so relaxing I found myself falling asleep. The breakfasts are the most amazing breakfasts we have ever had, you will leave so full you will end up back in your caboose for a little rest to try to digest!! Charlotte and Olaf went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, catering to dietary restrictions, and providing delicious fruit grown in their orchard in our room!

The Red Caboose Getaway was a great place to celebrate our anniversary. Stayed in the Lavender caboose, the tub was heavenly.. The breakfast made by our hosts was to live another day for, very delicious, took into account our needs, would recommend for a getaway, that's different..

Olaf and Charlotte have done a remarkable job restoring and decorating the train cars. Late check in was easy as the key was left for us. In the circus-themed train, there were magnetic letters spelling our names to welcome us. Jet tub was a hit. Breakfast in the dining car the next morning was the highlight. Thank you Olaf and Charlotte!

You get to stay in your own caboose! Definitely the most unique b&b we've ever stayed in. My husband and I stayed just one night for our anniversary. The owners are exceptionally friendly and the 4 course breakfast was delicious and very filling! The cabooses are all decorated with lots of attention to detail in different themes. We stayed in the orient express. It had everything we needed. The only thing that would stop me from staying here for a longer time is the lack of shower or at least if the faucet in the bath was one that pulled out so you could use it like a shower. There was a large bath jacuzzi. The location is about 1 mile from the town of sequim with restaurants and shops, Reasonable drive to port Angeles and olympic national park. If you like trains the owner is very knowledgeable. Overall a very enjoyable stay,

My husband and I stayed in the Grape Escape for one night over the Labor Day weekend and absolutely loved it. Olaf is a wonderful host and walked us through our caboose and its amenities after we checked in. The caboose itself was more spacious than most with a full size couch that folded out into a double bed, alongside the bed. The copper slipper tub was amazing and much appreciated after a day on the road. Note that there isn't a shower in this caboose, however. There is a hand-held shower attachment in the tub, but it's not a regular stand-up shower by any means. The WC/toilet is small, but serviceable. The tub is barely concealed from the rest of the caboose by a glass panel, so I would not recommend staying in this caboose with anyone you're not comfortable being naked around (unless you can work out an elaborate bathing schedule where your fellow travelers occupy themselves somewhere else while you bathe). The breakfast in the dining car was truly amazing. THE best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B, EVER. Hand's down. Fresh and local was the highlight, plus you can make special requests if you have allergies or food sensitivities when you make your reservation. The best part: No kids allowed. A truly unique, kitschy, peaceful and wonderful place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend it.

This is a very unique B&B. Glad we went. I am not a train enthusiast, but I am fascinated with history in general. I would enthusiastically recommend a stay here. My wife and I are already talking about our next visit. Rooms - awesome. For a reworked caboose and a fascinating piece of history, I think they are a 5 out of 5, but as compared to a plushly carpeted room with big screen TV and overstuffed recliners, not so much. Not running them down, I loved it. Lets just be honest, it is a train car. Bed is very comfortable, tub was fantastic. It is hard to rate this as compared to a regular B&B. Service - could not be better. Value - once again, how do you compare the value something as unique as this? Cleanliness - could not be better Dining - WOW!!!! Great experience. "We serve breakfast to our first class passengers promptly at 8:30, and we do not serve a second class breakfast!" I love it! Excellent cuisine, awesome service! Thank you for the history.

Having driven by this place for years, I'd always wanted to stay here, and when we finally did it was every bit as much fun as I expected. My boyfriend thought we were going to some lace-covered pillow Victorian B & B, (yawn) so it was a fun surprise for him too. The breakfast was hearty and great, and Olaf and his wife shared a lot of their experiences acquiring and renovating the cabooses and dining car.

My granddaughter was delighted with our stay at the RCG. She loved it and gave each of her parents (one at a time) a tour of the Casey Jones and the exterior via her I-pad. She'd like to return and stay in each of the other cabooses or would that be caboose.

We recently made a weekend visit to Sequim for a bicycling weekend, and after some poking around the interweb found Red Caboose. It seemed like fun, and there weren't a whole lot of options in Sequim, so we went ahead and booked. My wife and I both came away very impressed. Olaf has done a great job in concept and execution. Our caboose (Grapes something) was very charming, beautifully outfitted, and comfortable. Olaf was the consummate host, full of information and obviously very enthusiastic about his business. We enjoyed the privacy and amenities offered by the concept, liked learning about the history of both the train cars and his business, and breakfast was awesome:) We've had bed and "breakfast" meals which were basically coffee and pastries...not here! Perfect fueling stop before a long day on our bikes. It didn't hurt that the weather was beautiful, his restaurant recommendation (Dockside) was perfect, and that the riding was great....but Red Caboose certainly contributed. We are headed back again next year, and will stay here again.
4,8 sur août 06, 2014
I was worried that the gimmick would interfere with comfort. I thought 'how comfortable can one be in an old rail car'? I was wrong. The attention to detail in both decor and comfort were outstanding. The elegant breakfast (5 courses served on linen tablecloth and real china) was the crowning touch along with Olaf's stories about how it all happened. My husband, the engineer, was really impressed with the fact that all utility connections were underground and how difficult it would have been to run them into the cabooses.

We heard about Red Caboose Getaway on TV. We always ride trains where ever we go so we thought this would be a neat place to stay. We were right! We chose the Western caboose, complete with bullet holes in the windows, swinging door to the bath and all the John Wayne movies yoiu can handle. The bed was comfortable and the fog came in during the night and cooled us down wonderfully. The breakfast was all the anyone could ask for. Four courses and the food was wonderful. Olaf and Charlotte are fine hosts. We didn't see much of Charlotte except at breakfast but Olaf was full of information and enthusiam. We really injoyed our time there and would recommend it to all our friends (we already have!).

My wife and I have stayed here twice. Once in the Circus room, and once in the Orient Express. We love the themes. The only thing I would add to either room is a removable shower head for washing hair. Olaf and Charlotte definitely work hard to make it an enjoyable experience. The pond and all the ducks definitely add to a scenic and fun place. The breakfasts are classy, artful, and extremely delicious!

We came to sequin looking to do something different with our friends. I suggested staying in a caboose vs. a hotel for some fun. Visiting the red caboose getaway was amazingly fun. We stayed in the Casey jones caboose and our friends stayed in the lavender limited. We loved our rooms. I would have never imaged that the train would have a very comfortable bed. I slept like a log in deep slumber. The details that Olaf has come up with in each room shows that he truly puts a lot of effort into the caboose. It was also really nice that all the cabooses weren't linked together. They all had there own little sections surrounding the duck pond with their own parking spot and little sitting area. Breakfast next morning was SUPER amazing! Charlotte is amazing in the kitchen. Hearing that Charlotte wakes up at 4am to start making breakfast made me feel like she put in a lot of care to detail. Seeing inside the silver bullet made me feel like I was special. The feeling like you were in a five star resturant. Coming back home made me miss charlottes cooking very much. We will come back again for sure.

I don't usually write reviews, but I decided to write one because we had such a great experience at the Red Caboose Getaway and I want others to be able to experience as well. First of all, the idea of staying in your own themed caboose is so much fun! We stayed in the Western and the decor was definitely in the style of the living in the Old West. Additionally, breakfast was delicious and all of the personal touches Olaf and Charlotte add makes it even better. They were very accommodating to account for allergies and/or food preferences. Even though we really enjoyed staying in the Western caboose, I hope to return soon to experience another caboose!

We stayed in the western caboose and were totally amazed at the attention to detail. Charlotte and Olaf were the best innkeepers; very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was definitely 5 Star. I enjoyed the oversized claw tub. We will return again to stay in the upcoming Vegas theme.

I took my boyfriend here for our two year anniversary, and everything was lovely except for the hosts. We felt like we were judged unfairly simply because we are a younger couple, (in our twenties). They were both polite but seemed curt and suspicious. There was another couple in the dining cart with us for breakfast, and Olaf and Charlotte were noticeably friendlier towards them, even though they were late for the meal. We were both well mannered and clean, dressed nicely, etc. There was no reason for us to have been treated that way.

This was our second time staying here and definitely will stay again. Our goal is to stay in every one of the Cabooses.
4,8 sur avril 27, 2014
For anyone who is the least bit interested in trains, this is a must stay place. Olaf and his wife, Charlotte, have restored several old cabooses, each with a different theme. Be sure to ask for a tour of the cars as they are just delightful. The cars are artfully arranged around a small pond at the quiet end of Sequim. The bed was very comfortable and the fresh flower touches added to the ambiance. Breakfast, in a 1937 dining car, was outstanding! Be aware that there is only one caboose with a standup shower as the rest either have jacuzzi tubs or tubs with handheld showers. Thick terry robes were available for our use. Olaf and Charlotte were very warm and welcoming. This was a unique experience and we would certainly return the next time we visit the Olympic Peninsula. P. Fiaccone

I took my brother and his wife here because he loves trains. I on the other hand, like comfortable stays and great breakfasts. Everyone was happy! My room had a small gas fireplace to keep the caboose cozy on a very rainy night. Our bathroom had a large jetted tub for relaxing. Of course we had a flat screen and WiFi. What made our stay truly special were all the little details Olaf has added to each caboose. He stays true to each theme, adding special touches to each car. Breakfast was elegant in the beautiful dining car, right down to the china. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The warm orange pull-apart bread was to die for and our breakfast ended with chocolate covered strawberries! I would choose Red Caboose again. It is perfect for a romantic getaway and is close to Sequim and Port Angeles.

Best place we've stayed by far. We celebrated our one year anniversary there, and it trumped our honeymoon. Olaf greeted us, and showed us our room personally. His excitment and enthusiasm for trains is infectious, and his cabooses' (we stayed in Casey Jones) decor is well executed. It was warm, homey, and the decor was natural, minimal, and historical. The breakfast was a delight. It felt like we'd gone back in time, and Charlotte served us the most beautiful, tasty, home-made five course meal we ever had. Charlotte even made a point to ensure everything I ate was dairy free, a service one rarely receives. Olaf and Charlotte have a true gift for hospitality. It is well worth a stay! We hope to return, and have already recommended it our friends and family.

Accommodations were way beyond my expectations. Caboose's are cozy, fun, and romantic. Gourmet breakfast was fa-nominal!

Unique and a must for train aficionados, and the breakfast is to die for! We wanted to try something 'different', and the Red Caboose more than filled the bill. When we checked in Olaf shared a little about the caboose we would be in, then collected an ancient key and gave us a detailed tour of our caboose - the Casey Jones. Walls covered with memorabilia, a stack of train-related movies on DVD, a mini fridge with bottled water nicely chilled and the most comfortable bed... Olaf knows all the places to eat and can recommend according to your interest. I was directed to a nearby lane lined on both sides with blackberry bushes, where I quickly picked all that I could eat! Breakfast is served in an old dining car, and was a four course affair, all First Class - fine china, snowy linens, and a meal guaranteed to delight. After breakfast we were given a tour of all of the cabooses (we were the only ones there) and quickly resolved to return enough times so we could stay in every one of the cabooses!

Quaint, cosy and very comfortable. Spectacular breakfast, friendly hosts. We will definitely return. The Red Caboose is right on the beautiful Olympic Discovery Trail, which we navigated from Port Angeles. this is a journey that I would recommend to all cyclists

A wonderful experience, Olaf was very knowledgeable when it comes to trains and Charlotte makes a mean breakfast using local fresh berries. Dietary needs were met and as I filled them out and were confirmed by Olaf on check in.

Olaf does an outstanding job as Conductor at check in to waiter for the incredible breakfast in the luxury dining car. We enjoyed our stay greatly. The gourmet breakfast was wonderful, served with perfected elegance. The caboose fun to stay in. Clearly a labor of love, the attention to detail was impressive.

Had a wonderful stay. Very clean, quiet, fun, the tub on the orient express was to "die for", and the meal was exceptional. Service and attention to detail shows as coming from a family that has a passion for the place. Recommend. Surrounding area very fun to explore wish we had another night to stay.

This my 3rd visit and they never let me down...I do girlfriend getaway weekends... we shop, we watch movies, we go to the local winery.... The weather is great!! They are always so wonderful to me and remember things about me... I'm planning my next adventure, by myself...

The Room: You step into another world where every item is a collector's piece and an enhancement of the theme. Even the DVDs are relevant, esp. the very entertaining "Bottle Shock." The Breakfast: Four outstanding courses in an Art Deco setting. Vegetarian? No problem. The offerings are only slightly reworked and stay just as wonderful. The only thing missing is the clickity-clack.of the wheels. If you want to be whisked away from it all to another place and time, the Red Caboose will do that for you, in style.

What an incredible experience. We stayed in the Orient Express and loved every minute of it. Charlotte and Olaf were exceptional hosts and knew the area very well - be sure to get their recommendations for restaurants in the area. The accomodations were superb - where else can you stay in a real caboose??? The breakfast was beyond any expectaions we had - excellent doesn't even fully describe the experience. The food and the atmosphere were incredible. We're looking forward to a return visit so we can try another caboose.

This was our second stay at the RCG, and in the Casey Jones caboose. This caboose, like all of them, is a bit space-limited and has a queen bed, which can be an adjustment if you really want a king, But it was comfortable in a cozy way and well temperature-regulated. The only misgivings we had with this unit were the lack of a tub (corner shower instead), and a redundant sink which makes the toilet room VERY cramped (and unusable for big people.) Breakfast in the dining car was exceptionally good, served by the owners with a personal touch. Even if you're not a railroading buff, this is a unique B-&-B.
5 sur août 04, 2013
Cabooses whimsically restored by a train lover with an eye for detail. The four course breakfast is up there in our top three B & B experiences.
5 sur août 03, 2013
We had stayed here before several years ago and love it then and loved it once again! Olaf and his family are incredible hosts and are very friendly and informative about the area.

We stayed in the "Western" caboose and it was charming down to the boots on the floor. The lavender soap was lovely and the sheets smelled so nice. The dining car was dressed impeccably and the food was delicious and elegantly presented.
5 sur juillet 22, 2013
We have passed by the cabooses since they first started to bring them in, and only recently discovered that it was a B & B. With a family reunion in the area my wife and I decided to give it a try, and we were very glad we did. The 4 course breakfast in the dining car was amazing, and staying in a caboose was just great fun. They have done a fantastic job of restoring them. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We spent another wonderful weekend at the Red Caboose Getaway, again in the Orient Express Caboose. Charlotte and Olaf are absolutely wonderful hosts and the food for breakfast is to die for! An added plus is always having a menu to take home as a momento. Ducks in the pond, birds at the feeders, sunshine and blue sky! What an amazing place to kick back and relax for a long weekend. Can't wait for our next "ride"!
5 sur juillet 10, 2013
We stayed in the Lavender Limited on 8 July 2013 and the Grape Escape on 9 July 2013 and had a great time. We really enjoyed both nights. Olaf's vivid imagination, dedication, and hard work have really given these old cabooses new lives. Each has it's own theme carried out through all the decor right down to the selection of DVDs supplied in each caboose (examples: The Lavender Hill Mob, and The Grapes of Wrath). Breakfast, served in a period dining car, was a special treat. We'll be talking about our stay for quite some time and will definitely recommend The Red Caboose Getaway to any of our friends who are looking for a special time away from home.
5 sur juillet 10, 2013
We enjoyed a weekend away on the Olympic Peninsula, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Red Caboose. The caboose was so much fun, and the breakfast served by owners Olaf and Charlotte was utterly delicious. The guest book in the caboose was written in by many returning visitors, and I can see why--we can hardly wait for our next visit!

A novel concept that extends the typical bed and breakfast.

We used a Groupon and basically received half off our 2 night stay. Even if we didn't receive half off, it would be worth it! The breakfast was a amazing! If you are wanting a "light in calorie" breakfast, don't bother! The cabooses were immaculate, and had everything we needed. Wonderful stay.
4,8 sur juillet 07, 2013
this was much more than we expected. The caboose was great and very comfortable. Very fun to climb up to the conductor chairs. The breakfast for both days was incredible and the dining car setting was delightful. We enjoyed it and have told all our friends, you must go here!

We had a wonderful stay at the Red Caboose, the first night of our honeymoon week. The attention to detail was wonderful, Olaf was so helpful in directing us to a good restaurant for dinner and Charlotte's breakfast was incredible. What a fun way to start our marriage!

This was a gift stay for my husband who is a train nut. We loved it! Service was great. Lots to see in the area. We will be back.
4,4 sur juillet 04, 2013
Staying at the Red Caboose Getaway is much more than just crashing somewhere for the night. The themed cabooses show attention to detail in every nook and cranny, and the proprietors maintain an atmosphere in which we felt like both honored guests and a longtime friends. You will leave this place knowing a little more about American RR history and also what a first class breakfast is like (its amazing, btw). Note: our stay included a very warm day (upper 80s F) and we were concerned that the caboose wouldn't cool down in the evening (there was no A/C in our caboose), but we needn't have been concerned - there are plenty of windows in the cabooses and an in-room fan which helped to cool our room quickly.

Such a fun experience to stay in an old caboose! The best part was the dining car where we were served a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning. Proximity to Olympic Mountain range also a plus!
5 sur juillet 04, 2013
The Red Caboose is a husband and wife run Bed & Breakfast. Everything about the Red Caboose was exceptional. Each caboose is theme decorated. We stayed in the Lavender decorated caboose. Olaf took us to our caboose and told us everything about its history. He showed us important operation tips. He is very knowledgable about the history of each caboose on his property. My husband loves trains, so it was perfect for us. Breakfast was served in the dining car that was set up just like a dining car on an operational train. The breakfast was a memorable experience. Charlotte prepared a gourmet breakfast that was top chef quality. Her attention to the presentation of the meal was exceptional. Breakfast was served by Olaf. He was dressed in perfect dining car attire. Olaf has a great sense of humor which is well suited for his Bed & Breakfast business. My only regret is that that we didn't stay two nights. This was our 2nd time at Red Caboose Getaway and it is as amazing and wonderful as before. Olaf & Charlotte are a wonderful couple and she is a super great cook. The breakfasts in the 1930s era dining car are always a very special affair, with white linens, crystal and china - and served with a flair by Olaf. Ducks in the pond, birds at the feeders, comfortably appointed cabooses all add to the great experience here. The Orient Express caboose has a wonderful jetted tub - perfect after a hike on Hurricane Ridge or the Dungeness Spit. We highly recommend this B&B - it is a unique and special experience.

Very quaint and you feel like a part of history. You are in a caboose, not a five star hotel. You need to experience it to enjoy the quaintness. The breakfast is fantastic in a 1937 dining car with white linen covered tables.
4,6 sur juin 30, 2013
Gourmet breakfasts! Comfy bed. Well thought out themed décor. Great location. A shower would be nice for those of us who have trouble getting out of a tub. :)
5 sur juin 27, 2013
We enjoyed our stay at the Red Caboose way more than we thought we would! Somehow you have this sense that a train car really won't be that spacious or comfortable, but it was very comfortable and had plenty of room to move around. Granted, a caboose has it size limitations but it was fascinating to see how Olaf utilized every inch of the space in the refurbished car. We were in the Grape Escape and had some very nice Sofia champagne and several containers of fresh flowers which I REALLY enjoyed. My partner and his 22 yo daughter had relaxing rainy afternoon in the caboose just talking and planning... it was a highlight for them. Another surprise was the gourmet breakfast... using fresh local herbs and produce. It was fabulous! We had a great time and enjoyed every encounter with Olaf, Charlotte and Leif! It was a great time for us all!

Red Caboose Getaway was so much fun! Our caboose was absolutely charming down to the last detail. We stayed in the "Western-themed" caboose, and there were even a bunch of wonderful old westerns on DVD! Breakfast was delicious and the whole thing was very friendly and homey. Some activities we enjoyed while there were amazing Olympic Mountains views from Hurricane Ridge and a walk on Dungeness Spit. We were there for our 30th anniversary and couldn't have been happier!

The caboose cars are so charming and cozy. We've stayed at the Red Caboose previously, and would go it again. Olaf, Charlotte, and Leif are wonderful hosts, with great stories and tips for things to do while visiting Sequim. The breakfasts are incredible! The best we've ever had at a B&B. The duck pond and baby ducks were so much fun to watch. Julian & Betty

What a terrific getaway! Each caboose is theme decorated ( we stayed in the Lavender Caboose) with every amenity possible. Besides the shopping, dining, hiking, sightseeing of Sequim, we thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out in our caboose, watching the sunset from the captain chairs in the cupola. The breakfast in the dining car was FABULOUS!!!!! Don't miss it!!!
4,6 sur juin 20, 2013
Hospitality was outstanding, breakfasts so very tasty served hot with delicious coffee (endless refills and decaf on request) in such a unique setting. My husband noticed that the hot bread was 'anchored' on the board like it would be on a moving train. Our unit was well appointed and clean with a comfortable bed. Where else can you have such an experience filled with fun and get an education about the function of a caboose?! Olaf was cordial and obviously loves what he and his family do. I have already told friends about this great experience. Also lots to do in the surrounding area; we walked at Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake and near the Elwah River.

Amazing 4 course gourmet breakfasts! Very professional. Bed was very comfortable, local recommendations were very good as well.
5 sur juin 18, 2013
Each caboose has.a theme, ours was wine. Every detail in the caboose was carefully chosen; from the stained glass used to the smallest details in the car. From the moment we turned the key to our caboose this B&B exceeded every expectation. Fresh flowers set next to the bed, a bottle of champagne in the mini frig and Chocolate mints on the nightstand. The most delightful addition to this room was the huge COPPER BATHTUB! The Lavender bubble bath, candles and fireplace allowed you to slip completely into wine country. In the morning a five course Gourmet breakfast will be waiting for you. Again every detail has been seen to. Each table is set. Linen table cloth, perfect table settings silver salt and pepper shakers, a daily menu, and small flower on each table. Coffee and a hot loaf of a Specialty bread is served to you after you are seated. Olaf is delighted to share the details of this1950s dinning car while he and his family prepares a breakfast you will not soon forget.

Our children sent us to the Red Caboose for our 59th wedding anniversary. The entire experience was more than we expected. The breakfasts each morning were one of the highlights with food we never take time to fix at home. Watching the ducks and birds while dining in the dining car was most enjoyable. Olaf was our host for the time we were there and we had some very interesting conversations with him. He was always so cordial and went out of his way to make our stay pleasant and carefree. Although our caboose was yellow on the outside, the inside decor was most pleasing following the theme of the purple lavenders. We are grateful to our children for sending us on this adventure. Oh yes, visiting Sequim again was nice since we hadn't been there for years. We ate at the 101 diner and the Doclside Grill. Both had good food and were fun places to go. We now recommend this Bed and Breakfast to people we know and to all of you reading this. Helen & Joe

We didn't want a typical B&B and this place was great. We wanted to explore the Olympic peninsula and had two days. The 'room' (converted caboose) was very clean and spacious. We liked the captain chairs in the 'upstairs' area - great for reading. It didn't have a shower which we much prefer, but for those who like jetted tubs, it had a large one. We rarely eat breakfast, but wanted to try this one since we read it was fabulous. It was super fancy, way more than we're used to. Each day is a different menu, and definitely creative - no eggs and toast that's for sure. The facility was very clean and obviously well loved and proudly renovated.

I have been to many B & B's over the years. This was, by far, the best one. The food was INCREDIBLE, the service wonderful. From the moment we arrived to fresh flowers and champagne in the room, until we went to bed with chocolates by the bedside, it was all great. Olaf has a passion for what he does, and is more than happy to give you all the information about what he has done and plans on doing in the future. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the best trip we could ask for. We stayed in the Grape Escape, the caboose was decorating in a grape and wine theme included with an excellent copper tub that was perfect for soaking after a days hike. During our stay the breakfast served in their silver dining car was one of our favorite memories. No breakfast was the same and all of them were beyond delicious and filling! We enjoyed Olaf's conversations during breakfast and suggestions of what to do within the area. Olaf, Charlotte and Leif were all so kind we can't wait to see them again! Definitely plan to visit this heavenly get away again soon!

We stayed at the Red Caboose Getaway in the Circus caboose. From the moment the door opened, there was something to look at. From the personalized magnet "welcome" to the lions in the "cages", nothing was missed. Bed was comfortable, caboose stayed warm with the propane fireplace/stove. You can absolutely not miss the breakfast!! The atmosphere of the dining car was warm and inviting. And the food... so very, very good! Olaf was an attentive waiter, and it was interesting to hear him speak about his plans for other cabooses. We felt pampered and welcomed from the moment we checked in until the moment we sadly closed the caboose door behind us... Do not miss an opportunity to visit here, it will be worth it!

We will definitely be back!

Great host and hostess. Train cars are so uniquely different and chosen carefully to represent different types of cars. We stayed in The Orient Express, watched the movie, had a great visit in sunny Sequim. The breakfasts are to die for. I wasn't sure what a multi course breakfast looked like. Sweet or savory bread, fruit course, main course like brunch casserole, French toast, or frittata (but with special ingredients), and small special finishing sweet. Juice, coffee, and relaxation. Fun!

We had such a great time in Sequim. The Red Caboose was the perfect getaway for Sandy and I. Charlotte made an unforgetable breakfast each morning, a real gourmet chef, I consider myself a, "good", cook but nothing like our experience with Charlotte's breakfast. Oalf is the most passionate man I have met with his focus and direction on where the business is going. His focus to attention on each of his, Caboose's is unbelievable. Every detail to the last little piece perfect to the best. Oalf is the best person for the job and Charlotte is the best breakfast chef in the West.....5 1/2 stars without a doubt......The absolute best getaway... Tim and Sandy

We have traveled all over the world and have never seen a place like this - and that's a compliment. The "rooms" are indeed individual cabooses, and the four course breakfast is almost too much - and served in an authentic railroad dining car, to boot.

Olaf and Charlotte have created the most unique and enjoyable escape in the Northwest. The charm flows from the host and hostess to the amazing bedrooms and a breakfast that defies description--it has to be experienced! My Husband and I were able to get away for the weekend and had an amazing time at The Red Caboose Getaway. The place is wonderfully done and the owners, Olaf and Charlotte have done an incredible job, the attention to detail is fantastic, Breakfast is fabulous. A gourmet and filling breakfast to start your day. We look forward to going back!

This Red Caboose Getaway is a wonderful experience that takes you to another time when train travel was splendid. The trains are authentically decorated, good beds, lovely setting with a duck pond, and the dining car with 1930's music and the best "first class" breakfast. Highly recommend this getaway.

The thing that bothered me the most was no shower curtain for the tub! Everything else was very interesting and fun. Olaf and Charlotte are just great.

I surprised my husband with a HOMECOMING get away to the Red Caboose Getaway. He had just returned from a deployment in Afghanistan and this was the BEST weekend - ever! The caboose, service, value, cleanliness & dining were beyond great. Olaf & Charlotte were very knowledgeable of the area and were able to point us in the right direction for restaurants near the B&B. I must say that the First Class Breakfast served in the Dining Car deserves more than 5 stars. We stayed in the Grape Escape caboose and it was delightful! Thank you again, Olaf & Charlotte for an amazing homecoming getaway for me and my Sailor! We will be returning :D

Stayed in the Lavender Caboose and it was amazing, gas fireplace, two person jet tub, (no shower) queen size bed and two conductor chairs. The place was warm enough in the Fall weather. Breakfast in the Silver Eagle Train Car was more than amazing. Some fine hotels can't do what Charlotte does, Cinnamon Swirl Mini Loaf, Bake Fuji Apple with Sausage Cornbread Stiffing then a Dutch Baby with RCG handpicked blackberries and Lavender Whipped Cream and then Chocolate Dipped Mandarins all this in one sitting.

Nostalgia with some modern conveniences and clever details. The Circus Caboose is stocked with circus-themed DVDs. The mural on the wall is lit with multi-coloured lights which can be changed to fade or flash, adding to the whimsical feel of the caboose. A nice touch was the personal welcome, spelled out in magnetic letters on the mirror wall. We missed having a shower but the jetted tub was very nice and the bed very comfy. The location is quiet and peaceful, adding to a restful evening. Breakfast was delicious and the dining car is set up as it might have been in its heyday. A great way to start the day. Olaf obviously enjoys sharing his knowledge of the rail cars and he and Charlotte are thoughtful hosts.

My husband and try and do local get aways around washington every couple of months to spend time with each other and not work weekends (own a small business). I thought that the Red Caboose looked like alot of fun and Unique. Well I was right... What a fun experience. I wanted the Grape excape caboose so we waited 4 months so we could stay in that caboose. It was amazing... The decoration and large copper soaking tub was great. It was such a fun experience to have your own train to stay in and the Breakfast in the mornings in the dining was was AMAZING..... His newest train s will be a Vegas and Sea theme and we will be back to stay in those two for sure.

Our first b&b experience will be hard to top. Expertly renovated caboose train cars, (we were in'Casey Jones'), including a real dining car, made this weekend to remember. Excellent gourmet breakfast prepared and served by Olaf and Charlotte. They obviously enjoy what they do. We recommend without hesitation. One suggestion: The room could use a microwave, and the TV is teeny tiny

A very unique place to stay. I alwways looking for something special and the Red Caboose is the most spechial place that I ever found! It is very funny. Each caboose is restored with a lot of love for each detail - and the theming of each caboose is amazing. Breakfast was more than fabulous. Olaf and Charlotte were extremely welcoming. I highly recommend the Red Caboose and I would definitely stay there again when I am in the area. We have stay one night in the Western Caboose. Due to the fact that we do not have enjoy a dinner at Red Caboose I could not really rate it. Unfortunatelly technicaly I could not check out without a rating for Dining. But I expect that the dinner will be that great like the breakfast.

We stayed in a caboose with the name "Oriental Express". The interior was decorated with hues of red and gold. And there were posters of "Murder on the Orient Express" along with other railroad memorabilia. The bed was very comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was big. I would have preferred a shower option but that was not available. Also no ironing board or iron was provided, and there was no curtain or door separating the bedroom and the jacuzzi for privacy. (Yes, there was a door to the toilet.) The food in the dining car was quite good, although one morning it was particularly loaded with carbs. Our second day's breakfast was over the top good. The grounds have a long way to go. There were several ducks in residence and their poop was everywhere - including on the walkway and the stairs to the dining car and office. We had dinner coupons at two restaurants. The Alder Wood Bistro was not very good but the Dockside was excellent.

Each Fall a group of bicyclers head over on the Coho Ferry from Victoria , B.C. to Port Angeles and proceed to ride along the Discovery Trai to Sequim. For many years now Stationmaster Olaf and his fine wife Charlotte have been looking after us with 5 star service and accommodations at the Red Caboose Getaway. Their personalized service is outstanding.

We could not have had a better time. The breakfasts are amazing! The location is easy to get to and very centrally located. It is better than most B&B's because each caboose is separate and there is not another room on the other side of the wall. Having the Discovery Trail go right by it is also a plus. Would recommend it highly.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in the Western themed caboose and it was so much fun. We had a fireplace to keep us warm at night, the ambiance was wonderful, no detail left undone. It felt cozy and personal. The food was unbelieveable. They used fresh local produce and the chocolate dipped mandarin oranges are to die for. The area of Sequim has so much to do and is so interesting that it was a wonderful getaway.

This place is a gem! Wonderfull hosts, great breakfast and fascinating stories how he obtained the Cabooses and how he relocated them to where they are today. I never stay at B&B's but this an exception. I plan to visit again. The breakfast was out of this world. Their passion for what they do reflects the details and work they have put into their cabooses!

We visited the Red Caboose Bed and Breakfast this past August 2012. We reserved the Lavender Caboose. It was lovely and many of the items went well with the lavender theme. We weren't sure what to expect out of a caboose lodging but were pleasantly surprised. It was a bit warm but they had put in a portable airconditioner in the room to try to keep it cool. It had a lovely clawfoot tub that you could soak in. However, if you are more of a shower person, you might want to pass on this room. The breakfast for both days was just outstanding. She did a terrific job with the food and made substitutions for someone in our party who had allergies. He was a wonderful host and waiter. The caboose was quiet and there was plenty of privacy. There is a cute duck pond that is in the middle but there's a lot of bird droppings that you have to cross in order to get to the main dining caboose. Just be prepared. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience that you have to at least try once in your life.

This is a unique stay and perhaps not for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. We stayed in a Railroad caboose for two nights and had a delicious four course gourmet breakfast ina railroad dining car. This was fun! The hosts, Charlotte and Olaf are very friendly and accommodating. If you are a railroad enthusiast, this is the place for you. Pick Olaf's brain, he really knows the history. If you are not a railroad enthusiast, like we are not, don't hesitate to stay here. Location perfect and the accommodations are roomier than you might think. Decor is as you would expect...Everything historic railroad. Nice eye for details.

Fun and different place to stay. Comfortable bed, big tub, nicely decorated. Owners very friendly and make you feel welcome. Breakfast in the dining car was wonderful. Worth the trip just for breakfast. Things to know, the tub is open to the room, just behind a screen. The toilet and sink are inside a small compartment not much space...it is a caboose after all. I would have liked fresh towels each day otherwise it was a enjoyable.

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Red Caboose Getaway. Olaf personally showed us around our room and Charlotte adapted our breakfast to fit our food restrictions. My husband and I love B&B's, and we're adding this one to our list of places to return. It's fun to stay in your own train caboose for a unique and novel experience. We stayed in the red caboose - the Orient Express - and definitely enjoyed ourselves. The only warning I'd give for this particular caboose is that it doesn't have a shower, just a large tub. For us, it was perfect because it forced us to take a relaxing bath for the first time in years! Yes, it's big enough for two and has jets if you like :) Perhaps we will give one of the other cabooses a try next time, just out of curiosity. As for the breakfast, get ready for an amazing 4 course spread! Everything was beyond delicious, and they were super courteous in asking us if we had any dietary considerations both when we booked and when we checked in. It's served in the largest, main caboose which is set up beautifully on the inside. The only thing I would warn potential visitors about is, 1) there's a lot of food, so come hungry! and 2) most of the dishes were heavy carb / bread based - yummy, for sure - but for those who crave protein / meat in the morning (or veggies) you might have to specify that preference.

A very unique B&B that we encourage people to experience. The cabooses were very comfortable and the food was outstanding. The dining car was such a particular treat that we brought our friends in to experience it. However, if you have trouble with stairs and steps, I wouldn't stay here.

We offer authentic stays in a caboose complete with the original steps as well as the upper cupola chairs.
Those mobility challenged we offer the "Casey Jones" with easier access up the Station House ramp (no steps) and coupled to our 1937 Zephyr dining car.

We love the Red Caboose Getaway. It's really nice, the themes are well done and its a very relaxing place to be. The breakfasts are worthy of a 5 star restaurant. Olaf and Charlotte were amazing hosts in this unique little B & B. The food was gourmet and delicious. And the rooms cozy, sweet, and very tidy, offering more character and TLC than any B & B we have visited. The Red Caboose is a wee bit more rustic and far more quaint, than fancy places, considering the rooms are cabooses. We were also impressed by the attention and care of the owners in this lovely setting. Top notch!

One of the best kept secrets of Washington. The theme is unique but don't let the idea of staying in an old caboose throw you. The owners (Olaf & Charlotte) have restored and retrofitted these cars to the utmost detail that rivals upper level rooms in any hotel. Many cars have Jacuzzi tubs and gas fireplace/ stoves and the attention to the car's themes have been well planned from the decor to the collection of DVD movies that match the theme. Each car has a different experience. Top that all off with one of the most amazing breakfasts I've ever had... Anywhere. Plus the fact that it's served in a fully restored 40's dinning car just adds to the fun. You'll feel like your eating on a set of a classic movie. Detail here hasn't been left out either. Even Olaf and Charlotte are dressed for the part in period Train Staff attire. Even if I wasn't able to stay here (the place stays constantly booked) I'd opt to have breakfast here. Olaf and Charlotte are extremely friendly and don't pass up the chance to hear any of Olafs stories on the cars and what it took to get them here. The effort and expense it took to the cars here and convert them, it's amazing that they make any money based on what they charge. Making this a really good value. Out last stay was the second time we've been to this B&B and it was just as fun as the first time. We talked our friends into renting a car as well this time around and they instantly fell in love with the place as we did. This place is truly a memorable experience and if your lucky enough to book a car for the weekend you will definitely not be disappointed.

Over the past weekend (6/15-6/17) we slept in a refurbished caboose and ate breakfast (4 courses) at a table covered with white linen, crystal & china. All of this took place at a wonderful B&B called the Red Caboose Getaway, located in Sequim, WA. Our hosts, Olaf & Charlotte, were wonderful, entertaining, and full of knowledge about the area and their prized cabooses. If you are looking for somewhere unusual and fun to stay, this is a great choice. All of the cabooses are totally refurbished and luxurious and each has some of its original parts. Ours had a glorious spa tub with room enough for two! A towel warmer and cozy robes finished off the relaxing soak. We plan on going back many times to try more of Charlotte's wonderful breakfasts and each of the other cabooses!

You almost need two reviews for this property: One for the sleeping accomodations and one for the most spectacular breakfasts you'll get in a B&B. Each of the eight cabooses (there's more in the works) is themed to a different style (Western, Circus, Orient Express, etc.). Separate from each other they surround a very serene duck pond which, during our end-of-May visit, was loaded with little ducklings. Other songbirds add to the appeal of the surroundings as well as the chirping of the frogs at night. The circus caboose (our choice) came complete with a jacuzzi and plenty of space to move around. Room appointments include TV/DVD and an amazing attention to detail and accuracy. Only a couple units have showers so if that's important make sure to request one. Breakfast: 5-star doesn't even come close! All fresh and responsibile for us spending an extra night. Your host and hostess put out the mostest. We had our choice of coffee, tea, or a variety of flavors of hot chocolate (went with caramel but heard the peanut butter was great). Juice was a choice of orange/mango or pomegranite/berry. "Appetizers" included orange pull-aparts and a spectacular grapefruit (which didn't taste like any grapefruit I've ever had). This weekend's main course was a sausage-stuffed Fuji apple on Sunday and then a "hobo bag" on Monday. As if that wasn't enough desserts were chocolate-dipped mint leaves and mini-baked Alaskas. Where else does this happen? No pets (the proprietors'dog Pickles is a pleasant substitute) or children under 12 insure that the grounds (located a couple hundred yards from the spur road into town and next to a residential area) can be enjoyed by the adult guests. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Trains are fun, even ones that don't move and this little B&B is uniquely fun. Our room was a bit tight, but had everything we needed to be comfortable. The soaking tub was lovely, but I really would have preferred a shower. Breakfast was delicious, but I am still working it off; and I missed having some fresh fruit. Still, if you are in the area and want a fun experience, check onto one of the 9 different train cabooses

This is a unique idea and very well executed. The breakfasts were among the best we've had anywhere. I understand the reason for a firm check-in time, but check-in takes about 15 minutes per caboose and, with only one person doing the check-in, those at the end of the line wait a long time to get to their room. More flexibility about check-in time would no doubt be appreciated.

This is a little expenive, but well worth it for a unique experience. The service was exceptional and the breakfast was AMAZING! The owners are a great couple who are passionate about what they do. The area is beautiful, and the combination makes for an unforgettable experience.

Our stay was a fantasy come true for any railway buff. What a treat to wake up on your birthday in a caboose and dine in a 1937 dining car! We stayed in the Lavender Express caboose and loved it. The décor was cute and comfortable...the jetted tub superbly relaxing. The frosting on the cake was a gourmet three course breakfast with scrumptious locally roasted coffee and even a tiny dessert! We have already chosen a theme car for our next stay. Thank you Charlotte and Olaf.

What a great 45th. anniversary get away. Excellent breakfast in a 90 foot dinning car. I wish I could have rated it with six stars! Quiet, comfortable beds, with warm quilts resting inside of a restored, themed caboose. Make a plan. Do not miss this most pleasurable adventure.

We traveled to the RCG for our one year anniversary. The rooms were just as we expected. The photos are very accurate o what you find at check in. Lots of movies on the room to watch. Comfy robes and lovely soaking tub. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because we never had good Internet service the whole time we were there and they were supposed I have wifi. It just wasn't a strong enough signal. Overall we had a great time. The breakfast was out of this world. So yummy and great first class service. We will definately be going back.

The rooms are fun and cozy, the jacuzzi tub is wonderful. The breakfast each morning was a delight as were Olaf and Charlotte. I can't really speak to the value since we used a living social coupon. We will definitetly visit again

Our experience was so nice, I loved the original idea of staying in an actual old caboose. They are super cozy and the whirlpoor tub was so nice. The breakfast was amazing!! they serve breakfast items I never would have thought of, and everything is freshly made and delicious.

We had a wonderful pre-Valentine's Day weekend away. We stayed in the Circus caboose. Every detail of the caboose is true to theme - we enjoyed it all! It was comfortable, cozy, and romantic - a great place to get away for a weekend.

My wife and I stayed at the Grape Escape which was beautifully furnished. The entire experience was quiet and very pleasant. Charlotte and Olaf prepared a marvelous breakfast for us that blew my mind. Excellent cooking, great service, and beautiful places nearby to see makes this one of those times I will remember forever.

There needs to be a separate category for Olaf and Charlotte's caboose getaway - it's so far above any other place we have ever stayed. Olaf does an unbelievable job refurbishing the cabooses and Charlotte's breakfasts are breathtaking. Can't wait to return - again and again.

My husband and I could not believe how wonderful our stay was at the Red Caboose Getaway. The circus-themed caboose was bigger than we had expected and the two-person tub/spa was perfect. The best part was the breakfast each morning. A four-course meal served in the dining car on white linen tablecloths with china and crystal. We felt like we were in a 5-star restaurant. This is the perfect place to stay and we'll be sure to return!

We spent 2 comfortable nights at the Red Caboose Getaway B&B, Olaf and Charlotte were exceptional hosts and we felt very much at home. The Breakfasts were fabulous, we would not hesitate to hightly recommend staying there, we will be going again!

We stayed in the Western caboose and the moment we walked in it was a feeling like we had come home! All of the details from the floorboards to the ceiling were right on! Charlotte and Olaf were so welcoming and made it seem as though they were guests as well instead of the hosts. The food was incredible! Definitely an experience... we were open to trying new things and loved every bite! If you're a bacon and eggs every breakfast type, inform Charlotte and Olaf ahead of time and maybe make arrangements to have something to fit your needs. They go to great lengths to be unique and are extravagant with their recipes (which are delicious!!) so if you are not open to trying new things please let them know, they are willing to adjust your menu to your liking. Charlotte and Olaf are a great couple and work hard to make it a wonderful getaway for those who are looking for a relaxing weekend. We can't wait for our next visit... :-) Kristen and Justin (Everett, WA)

We stayed in The Grape Escape. It was fairly roomy and the decorations were great. Olaf & Charlotte had the heater on ready for us when we arrived, and they were understanding of our schedule (couldn't arrive until after midnight). The breakfast prepared by Charlotte was amazing! Everything was beautiful and delicious. She also accommodated for my boyfriend's vegetarian diet. All in all, we were very impressed and we highly recommend this place for anyone interested in staying somewhere unique.

The Red Caboose Getaway in Sequim is fantastic! You get to choose from several luxurious cabooses to stay in overnight. We opted for the Grape Escape. I absolutely loved the copper tub - that was definitely one of our highlights! In addition to the fabulous theming (with great attention to detail), the breakfasts in the mornings were delicious! Served in a dining car, Charlotte created four-course gourmet meals despite my wide array of food allergies. My favorites included the Orange Pull-Apart Mini Loaf and the Strawberry Dutch Baby. I also really liked that they offered a lot of suggestions for things to do in the area and places to try for lunch and dinner, but also gave you a lot of space to do your own thing. If you ever make it up to Sequim, you should definitely give the Red Caboose Getaway a try.

What an incredible experience! My husband & I recently spent 3 nights in the Grape Escape caboose & can't stop talking about it...Olaf & Charlotte are the nicest couple....Charlotte's breakfasts are an event in themselves. Attention to detail was everywhere & easy to imagine what it might have been like on the Orient Express with all of the personal attention. On morning of our anniversary the breakfast menu had a personal congratulations message for the two of us. This is definitely a "destination" B&B and we'll be back. So many places to visit around Sequim. Thank you Olaf & Charlotte for helping to make our anniversary a memorable one.

My best friend and I spent a whole week in the Pacific NW, staying at a different B&B each night. The Red Caboose Getaway was BY FAR the best and most enjoyable night we had! I so wish we had planned to stay in Sequim more than one night, but now we have an excuse to go back one day. Olaf was the ultimate host. The train cars each had a different theme and the craftmanship/remodel was excellent down to every detail. I really felt like we were back in time! We felt like royalty having breakfast in the dining car. Service was top-notch. I HIGHLY recommend Red Caboose Getaway to anyone staying in the area!

A wonderful addition to the B&B community. Breakfast was 4-star in the Silver Diner Car! Each "room" was unique and quite comfortable. The little things such as a DVD movie following the "theme" of the caboose! We'll do it again if we're close by.

We rented 3 cabooses for my husband's 60th birthday; July 29, and 30, 2011. Our sons and wives joined us on the 30th. We all liked the privacy of having our separate caboose, no one above us or next to us as in a normal hotel room. They all were very clean and have nice extras; robes, heated towel bar, two person jetted tub. The beds were very comfortable. Our daughter-in-law loved the Lavendar caboose-her favorite flower! We of course went to a nearby lavendar farm that Olaf recommended before we headed home. The breakfasts were superb. Olaf and Charlotte are very gracious while they serve. Olaf filled us in on the cabooses in the works and their themes. We hope to return to experience them. We have since recommended the caboose getaway to friends and family. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights in the "Grape Escape". We absolutely loved the caboose and the creativeness it took to transform this train into our own little special getaway. The breakfast was top notch and we really appreciated the attention to detail in the dining car, it made us feel that we had traveled back into a more elegant time period. Olaf and Charlotte are wonderful hosts. I would and have raved about this Red Caboose getaway to anyone staying on the Olympic Peninsula. This definitely a place where we would return.

We recently spent two nights in a caboose with a "wine country" theme. Olaf and Charlotte have done a fine job of converting the old cabooses into themed bedrooms. They were very nice people and served a fabulous breakfast. The room was very clean and tidy. The only knock I have was the bed. This bed was mentioned by someone else in the room's guestbook. It was a queen sized bed with a too soft mattress and box springs. I am 6' 2" 225 lbs. and it felt like I was in a hammock. My wife naturally rolled towards the middle and against me all night long keeping us both awake. The second night she slept on the couch and said it was great. We are used to a firm mattress and we have never had that problem. All in all, other than the bed, I would recommend "Red Caboose" as a nice place to stay.
Réponse du propriétaire
Upon examination we found the box spring under the mattress broken in two places so the mattress had no support. We have replaced both mattress and box spring with a new Sealy Posterpedic firm mattress. Had we been made aware of the problem we would have replaced it for the second night. Our guests have always raved how great our beds are.

We are sorry this guest found our cabooses "too rustic." I surprised my husband with this weekend getaway for his birthday. He has always wanted his own caboose in the back yard, but says now he can just come here. Much better and more cost effective, if you ask me. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new and different experience. We stayed in the Western and were amazed at the accomodations and attention to detail. They even had a real claw foot tub complete with about 30 western movies on DVD! We'll definitely go back.

We chose to stay a night at The Red Caboose Getaway to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. I chose the wine themed caboose, since he is a wine connoisseur, which was perfect. Olaf suggested a great local seafood restaurant and a lavendar farm to visit. The location was perfect for catching the ferry over to Victoria on Vancouver Island, after a truly, exquisite, gourmet breakfast prepared by Charlotte. We enjoyed hearing Olafs interesting Train stories before our departure. We shall always remember our getaway at the unique, romantic, & very comfortable Red Caboose. We hope to stay in their other cabooses if we are ever, again, in the Sequim area. Thank you for your fine hospitality for a memorable night! Kathy & Marty, Florida

We were so pleased with our delightful stay at Red Caboose Getaway: the attention to detail, the warm friendly atmosphere, and the great homemade food! The amenities were whimsical and comfortable and we had a great time (and slept much better than we ever have on a moving train.) All Aboard!!!

Charlotte and Olaf were outstanding hosts and went above and beyond what one might typically expect in order to make us feel comfortable, at home, and oriented to the community. Overall it was an outstanding visit and we look forward to returning in the future and referring friends and family.

We have spent just one night there but it has been great. What you see outside has nothing to do with what you will find inside the rooms. By far, nicer and cleaner than almost each and every B&B we have been before (you know that sometimes "charm and "too old" are too close to each other...). Breakfast was great and the restaurant nothing short than perfect. Thanks for the experience!

SOOOOO creative. Olaf offered a lot of knowledge and information about the trains and about the area. Breakfast was amazing and we especially enjoyed the soaking tub in the "Grape Escape!" It was obvious how much this business meant to them-it was a passion they had. This was a wonderful start to our anniversary weekend. We will be going back.

I happened upon a treasure located in Sequim Washington. Who knew a caboose would be our favorite place on our vacation. First thing our older teenagers said when we opened the door to our caboose was, "This is the coolest place ever!" Well you can't beat that. :) The breakfast was fabulous to boot and Olaf and Charlotte were the perfect hosts. We hope to go back for a visit soon!

We love Red Caboose Getaway! We started going in 2006 and have gone back at least once a year since, and hopefully, we always will--we have withdrawal if we go too long without a visit. It is a lovely, relaxing place and a completely unique experience, particularly if you love trains. Each themed caboose is a theme-decorated labor of love, full of fun little details and new ones being added all the time. Many have large jetted tubs, and they all have wi-fi, fridges and the like. The breakfasts are out of this world--I've never had better food--and the hosts accommodate your dietary restrictions if they know them ahead of time. Just a fantastic getaway--I can't imagine a better bed and breakfast experience.

I loved the Red Caboose Getaway! We spent two nights in the 'Orient Express' caboose. It was clean. I liked the way it was decorated---posters from the movie 'Murder on the Orient Express' and other railroad items. Innovative---I liked the clock on the ceiling. The caboose was more spacious than what I expected. The owners seemed to think of everything---even providing a copy of the movie 'Murder on the Orient Express' which we enjoyed seeing again. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Four courses! More than I normally eat and items that I wouldn't even have thought about ordering. The host and hostess were very nice and welcoming. Both have much knowledge about trains and were willing to answer questions. I am sure that they are asked the same questions almost every day by someone new. I would recommend the Red Caboose Getaway and will go back. I might like to try another caboose on a different track but I really liked the 'Orient Express' caboose and would be happy to stay there again.

Our stay in the Casey Jones caboose was a little step back into nostalgia. It was a wonderful experience and the cabaoose was a fantastic re-creation with numerous little reminders of the glory days of railroading. The fun sleeping experience was only the prelude to the breakfast dining experience. Olaf and Charlotte perpare the most fabulous breakfast - this must be 1937 again!!! The railroads of yesteryear could not top the culinary delight Charlotte had prepared and Olaf served. Whether you are a railroad buff or not, this experience will make you one for at least a night and the morning breakfast will satisfy you for the day.

We actually had to cancel our original reservation due to a medical emergency. Olaf and Charlotte were kind enough to allow us to reschedule and we are so happy they did. We had expected to have just a fun and unique evening and it turned into such a wonderful time and a great memory. Our 'Orient Express' was cozy and warm. We couldn't stop smiling while there. We watched a movie we probably would not have otherwise watched, and the food...AMAZING!!!! The magic that Charlotte creates in the kitchen is worth waking up for, the ducks on the property are wonderful to watch, Pickle is well, a cutie, and the one thing that just amazed us were the sheets. Granted, we visited in winter, but we fondly refer to them as the 'teddy bear' sheets. They were fleece and so very soft and warm...we still dream of those sheets. We will be back, and perhaps even try another caboose...however, the "Orient Express" is hard to beat. Thank you Olaf and Charlotte!

Yes! Rather than going on our vacation traveling,(Montana had our eye) we decided to treat ourselves to ,, yes a full-on leather sectionals sofa. And then on a spur'o the moment, do one night in an area we love, Sequim Wa. area at this B&B. Everything was superb but i'd just like to add, the ease, which a vacation should include. First the reservation,(online) the getting there, from Seattle, via the Edmonds/Kingston ferry and just a 60 miles of total drive! Check-in, this is not a hotel, you will listen to your host. And as he said, you don't have to go out of state, Europe and the like to get-a-way. A tip: this gem in NOT always booked, and the caboose makeovers are remarkable, outstanding !!

My husband and I stayed in the circus caboose for his birthday, and it was wonderful, and best of all, we only live three miles from here, so the trip home was a quick one. Are you tired of the nice but predictable stay at a bed and breakfast location? If you are, then the Red Caboose Getaway is just the place for you. This place will give you a very unique adventure that you will remember always and definately want to come back to time and time again. Each individual caboose will fit anyone's fantasy and particular personality and per olaf there are more choices coming in the future. My husband and i stayed in the Grape Escape and just walking thru the door found it just what we had hoped for and what was shown online. Even though the cabooses can be small they have found away to decorate them to give you the feeling of home. The details are outstanding for each theme. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping as the sun rises stems from the home they have created not just for their guests but for the wildlife as well. Now to the breakfast that awaits you each morning of your stay. Charlotte again shows her talent not just in decorating your caboose but her creativity on the plate put before you. She loves to cook and each course shows that with presentation and flavor. You will not be disapointed. One other thing do not miss hearing the stories of Olaf and Charlotte's adventure in building their dream you are staying and what they could have in store for your next stay. C

Out of all the B&B's we have stayed in, this one stands out. This was our 2nd trip. The place has great atmosphere. Each caboose has unique decorations. The private dining car is so fun and breakfasts are beyond amazing. We will be back again soon....

I was in De-Stress mode (job related). This was the perfect place to do so. Olaf & Charlotte did more than make us feel welcome. We would'nt do the stay justice without mentioning ... Pickle!!:)

We stayed in the "Murder on the Orient Express" caboose and it was a truly unique experience. It was very romantic, quiet and there was plenty to do in the area. We can't wait to come back and hope to eventually stay in every caboose. Charlotte and Olaf were wonderful hosts and the breakfast was more amazing than I can put into words! Go there!

My wife and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Red Caboose. The area is beautiful and the Caboose we had was an awesome place to be. It made us feel warm and very comfortable. Charlotte and Olaf gave my wife and I the most rewarding experience of a life time, especially being that this was our first ever stay at a B&B. The Breakfast and service was amazing, we felt like royalty.

Each caboose has a different theme and decor is perfect. 5 course breakfast, selling and service perfect. Olaf and his wife, the chef, are delightful hosts.

I proposed to my girlfriend and she accepted. The caboose was so romantic and breakfast was first-class. The hosts, Olaf & Charlotte, were the best.

Innkeepers Olaf and Charlotte host a B&B for the train-lover in you, as well as amaze your tastebuds with unique breakfast fare. They have preserved the cabooses well, especially the coupla seating area which is a great place to sit and just relax. A wonderful expeience even the spouse of a train-lover will appreciate!

From the moment you turn the key, you are transported to another era and tucked away in luxury. In the Grape Escape Caboose, it's the slipper tub. But there is a theme for everyone here- meaning you'll be sure to return to experience them all. Breakfast is beyond words and the hosts endearing.

We went to a wedding in Sequim, Wa August of 09. Most rooms in Sequim are, in my opinion, not worth their cost. Not so with the Red Caboose! Olaf and Charlotte have gone far beyond to make your stay unique and enjoyable. the 4 course breakfast in the morning included in your nights stay could be served in any 5 star restaurant. Each caboose has a different theme and has been lovingly decorated. The jacuzzi was huge, and comfy. small side note: no shower in the Orient Express or Lavendar room, be prepared to wash your hair in the tub.

Awesome, wonderful!! A very unique B&B. We loved the privateness and the pampering we received. The breakfast was fantastic!!! We definitely recommend this as superb place to stay.

We spent Friday and Saturday night in the "Red Caboose" (The Orient Express) and were very impressed with the accommodations and the owners, Olaf and Charlotte. Saturday, July 4th was our anniversary and this was a great get away to celebrate the occasion. The breakfast that is served, different each day, was GREAT and the service is first class. We will be going back someday soon.

We stayed here for two amazing nights for our honeymoon on July 12 & 13 2008. We stayed in the Lavender and Circus ones. Olaf and Charlotte are fabulous hosts and have such a passion for this great get-a-way!!! We can't wait to go back this coming weekend for our first anniversary!

This is a fantastic caboose, every design and detail perfectly done. But it is only half the story. The Silver Eagle Zephyr dining car is amazing and breakfast unbelievable. Best, most attentive and talented hosts of any place you can stay. Truly a step back in time when service and quality mattered.

We love this place and try to go back twice a year or so. The gourmet breakfasts are out of this world! Hosts are fantastic and interesting. Luxurious and romantic accommodations. Bravo!

We stayed in the lavender caboose (each one has a theme), the decor was very relaxing, as was the jacuzzi tub and very comfortable bed. The gourmet breakfast was amazing--beautifully served and a culinary treat! I am allergic to milk, which they asked about ahead of time, and specially cooked mine so that I could enjoy the same meal as my husband. It was truly a delightful retreat for us.

We wanted a fun place to stay that would be good for the two of us as well as our son. He loved the Carnival Caboose, he kept saying "this is the best day ever". I liked it mainly because it was quiet and had a jacuzzi tub, which was great after the day hike we took. Breakfast in the dining car was fantastic. My son is a pickey eater so didn't fit with the food well, but asked for some bacon and it was available for him, even though it was not on the menu. We will go back again and try one of the other themes, i.e. the Lavender Caboose. I loved reading the guest book of past visitors.

The caboose we reserved had a lavender theme; Its ambience and decor made it seem like a dream. The whirlpool tub was a wonderful sight; Soaking in it made for a very relaxing night. The lavender field mural painted on the wall was our favorite caboose decoration of all. The gourmet breakfast served in the train diner; In our opinion, we've never tasted finer. The bed kept us warm, as did the nice fireplace; This caboose is just the ticket to escape from the rat race. Our wonderful innkeepers were Charlotte and Olaf; For a most delightful weekend getaway, we can't thank them enough. We recommend these cabooses for relaxation and rest, and firmly declare the Red Caboose Getaway "the best!"

We originally had booked one night at this bed and breakfast, but after the wonderful service, FANTASTIC breakfast and the fun of staying in the "Circus" Car, we asked to stay another night!! Charlotte and Olaf are wonderful hosts and the breakfasts were out of this world. Beautifully presented with local flair and flavors, they were absolutely scrumptious. While we stayed in the Circus car which was a load of fun, "station Master" Olaf gave us a tour of some of the other cars. The "Lavender" car is exquisite and we can't wait to see the completed "Grape Escape!" I highly recommend this incredible B and B if you are anywhere even remotely near the the town of Sequim, or Seattle, or Washington! Oh and did I mention the breakfasts were top notch?!!

As the first guests in the Lavender Limited, we must say our setting was exquisite! Olaf and Charlotte definitely attend to even the most minute details! The breakfasts were gourmet to the max and delicious! My husband knew I've always liked trains and still travel by rail when I get the opportunity. We were like kids in a candy shop and would return at the drop of a hat! We highly recommend the Red Caboose Getaway!

Olaf and Charlotte ask for anything special you may want when you arrive. I said I would need a bubble bath after a three hour ride on a motorcycle and they had a terrific set up in the western caboose. The breakfast was far more than you would expect from a B&B.

Unique, comfortable, and friendly. Knowledgeable hosts provide interesting info, Breakfasts rank with world class restaurants.

The room was whimsical and fun. Decorated in a Western theme. The food was delicious. Olaf and Charlotte were very warm and made us feel right at home. This bed and breakfast is incredible, but not just because you are staying in caboose cars. This is the total package. Olaf acted as both conductor and local guide. Every place he recommended was excellent from food to must-see-places.

I have stayed at B&Bs with every theme imaginable, but Red Caboose Getaway is in a class all of its own. The attention-to-detail and creativity(in the individual caboose/suites as well as the meticulously restored dining car) is amazing. The innkeepers are delightful, and our breakfast was one of the best and most elegantly presented I have experienced anywhere. I hope I will have an opportunity to return to this one-of-a-kind B&B.
