We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. Very large and comfortable room with great breakfast! Innkeepers, Sharon and Sam, were super helpful in pointing us to and arranging our visits to nearby attractions. Look forward to staying again and seeing more of historical sites and wineries in central Virginia!

They work very hard and the get it right. It's easy to tell when owners love what they do. Really clean and well-managed B&B, friendly owners, in a very nice, progressive, small southern town.

We recently had a small wedding at Holladay House for our daughter. Sharon was outstanding in all aspects of the wedding preparation and planning! She was a joy to work with, clear in her communication of what she could do. She arranged for the justice of the peace, the cake, provided recommendations of restaurants for the wedding dinner and was in every way someone I felt I could rely on in the wedding planning process. And on the day of the event, when the ceremony was supposed to be in the park and it was raining, she turned the parlor into a cozy spot for the ceremony all on a moments notice. Holladay House is a beautiful bed and breakfast with old world charm, lovely decorations, excellent attention to detail as well as sparkling clean. I can't speak to the food or accommodations as all her rooms were booked except one for the bride and groom. But as a venue for a small wedding, we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience. Thank you Sharon!

Stayed at the Halloday House for just one night and it was lovely! Was upgraded to a bigger room upon check in and had a great chat about the inn. The town is small, but has one of the most amazing restaurants just a short stroll from the house. Everything was superbly clean, quiet and well stocked. The complimentary wine, beer and coffee was a real surprise! Breakfast was delicious! I now know why the biscuits are the talk of the town! I wish we had been able to stay longer. We will definitely make an effort to come back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The bed and breakfast is gorgeous, the service is amazing, and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. We are so happy we decided to stay here and we will be back. We highly recommend the Holladay House. M B

We chose this B&B out of several others based on their amenities for an elopement, location, and most of all-- reader reviews. I could not be happier with our experience there and Sharon was nothing short of wonderful in helping me make our wedding just what we envisioned and more. The house was impeccable and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Sharon took care of every tiny detail and I had nothing to worry about prior to our ceremony. From the pictures, the cake, flowers, music, dinner reservations...etc etc.. it was all gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious (my new husband enjoyed it at the table and brought me a tray; lucky me!) and both mornings we enjoyed a wonderful meal that was every ounce gourmet. We stayed in the Garden Room; it was very clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated and comfortable. I love the unique jetted tub! If you are a light sleeper, be aware that you may hear some footsteps above early in the morning when breakfast is being prepared as this room is below the kitchen. I'm a super light sleeper, so doubtful this would bother anyone who sleeps like a normal person! Location is in the center of town, but the beautiful countryside in this area is just a few minutes away. There's a great selection of unique restaurants close by and we even walked less than a block away for dinner after our ceremony, to Elmwood at Sparks, in wedding attire. It, too, was delicious! Sharon is a true professional and it's clear she puts every effort into making every experience one to remember. We wish her and her family continued success and plan to visit again, perhaps for our anniversary!

My experience at the Holladay House was incredible. Sharon was so warm and welcoming, she made us feel right at home. The House is beautiful and has a lot of interesting history to it. The room was absolutely beautiful and very clean. Sharon helped us with anything we needed (which wasn't much- she had everything taken care of!). The breakfast was delicious- Sharon even gave me a recipe for one of the dishes I loved. I highly recommend the Holladay House!

We were at the B&B on October 17 to October 19, 2014. Our room was exactly what we had expected from the brochure. Sharon was very friendly with everyone and the food was excellent. She is very knowledgeable about the area and asked the right questions about where you wanted to go and what you wanted to do so that your visit would be every thing that you had hoped. The inn is in a central location to the vineyards and historic places so that you don't have to spend time driving long distances. I would definitely recommend this B&B and hope to go back.

The John Madison Suite is named for one of its Civil War occupants, John Madison Chapman. This charming bed and breakfast suite is one of the two most historic accommodations at the Holladay House Bed and Breakfast. The room dates to approximately 1830, and all of the woodwork and trim is original, including the decorative antebellum mantel and fireplace in front of the bed. Now, the room is a large, elegantly decorated romantic suite, perfect for an anniversary or honeymoon. The overstuffed queen-sized cherry four-poster bed is accompanied by a gas fireplace with the original hist
The Oak Room is decorated in warm Williamsburg colors, with a queen-sized bed with high carved antique oak headboard. A matching dresser and end tables compliment it nicely. A TV/DVD player sits conveniently across from the bed, along with two chairs and a large rolltop desk. The private bath with a tub/shower combination is included.
The Blue Room is one of the original bedrooms in the house, and it still has all of its original woodwork, window glass, and a Federal-style wooden mantel piece. This spacious room includes a queen-sized tester bed, romantically draped with airy white curtains, next to the original fireplace and mantel (now equipped with a heated electric fireplace). Two rocking chairs face the TV/DVD player and desk. The private bathroom includes a tub/shower combination, and is only two steps across the hallway. We furnish you with luxurious robes for your convenience. Some of the antique furnishings in this room are Holladay family heirlooms and have been in the Holladay House Bed and Breakfast for over a century.
This bright and cheerful room is the perfect place to settle down after a fun day of exploring. Recently refreshed with a happy new color scheme, Helen's Haven is a guest favorite. This room features original 1910 woodwork, including an original built-in wardrobe, solid wood doors, and crown moulding. The pleasing green trim (a Holladay family favorite) and early twentieth century furnishings (including an antique carved wooden headboard) provide ample historic charm, while the new addition of period-appropriate Japanese accents makes the room fresh and inviting. Relax with a good book in the cozy slipper chair or curl up in the queen-sized bed in front of the television. The private bathroom includes a stand-up shower.

Samuel and Sharon Elswick
Sam and Sharon were first exposed to bed and breakfasts in Virginia at their own wedding. After numerous champagne toasts, enthusiastic support from loved ones, and the unparalleled service received from the smaller bed and breakfast wedding venue, these two innkeepers were hooked! Three years later, they launched their own plan to own a bed and breakfast in Virginia, and realized their dream in September 2006. After settling in the Town of Orange, VA, Sam and Sharon have never looked back!
