Planned a girl's weekend to Newport, and we were lucky enough to find availability at the Samuel Durfee House. Stayed in the Doris Duke suite which was more than enough space for three--the living room has sofa bed and adjacent bathroom. I loved the decor in the suite and common spaces. Owners are gracious and helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast was excellent every single day. Varied and flavorful--great way to start the day. Location is close to town, adequate parking. Highly recommended!!

We stayed at the Samuel Durfee House the last week of June and had a wonderful stay! The inn is super convenient-one to two blocks from the beautiful Newport harbor and all the shops and restaurants. It is charming, historic in feel, and CLEAN. The Perry room was lovely and really did feel like home every time we stepped through the door. In addition, Heather and Michael really do try to make you feel comfortable. Breakfasts are big, plentiful and delicious and can even be taken in a garden like setting out on the patio. Parking at no additional cost in the back of the inn was very much appreciated and just makes the stay that much more relaxing. We had a really great time in Newport, and would be most happy to stay at the Samuel Durfee House again.

We stayed at the Samuel Durfee House this past weekend and had a wonderful time. The Inn is beautiful, furnished with period antiques, and is very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. The innkeepers, Michael and Heather, were both very pleasant, cordial and informative. We had such a great time that we have now rebooked with them for a trip back to Newport in October! Really great location with on site parking. Highly recommend them to anyone wishing to stay in Newport.

We stayed here over the Easter Weekend and it was absolutely delightful! The inn and our room were well appointed and comfortable. We stayed in the Harrison Suite, which was on the first floor and it had a small sitting area which opened to a large deck. The weather wasn't quite warm enough to take advantage of the deck but certainly provided more space for relaxing. Michael is a wonderful host and Heather a gracious hostess and both excel at providing superior service AND outstanding breakfasts too. Both Michael and Heather are more than willing to provide suggestions for dinner and activities while in Newport. Again, outstanding!

Hosts great, sharing history of the house, Newport and local figures. Helpful in planning daily events. Breakfasts were wonderful. Great location, easy walk to shops, dining and attractions, off street parking was key. Room was quiete, maintaining the feel of the period, yet having a great updated bathroom. Would return in a heartbeat!

Only a block away from the heart of Newport's restaurants, shops and piers. Cliffwalk and mansions just a few blocks to the north. Michael and Heather were pleasant and hospitable. The room was clean and comfortable. Sitting area was a nice, quiet place to read and have afternoon coffee and the homemade snacks our hosts provided. Breakfast was delicious. Great value! Highly recommend.

We were welcomed even before the check-in time by the innkeeper. The breakfast and service were outstanding. The rooms were small as is appropriate to the era of the house, yet charming and exquisitely decorated. The location was excellent for access to the downtown shops and restaurants. All were within walking distance. The value was excellent. Highly recommend!

f you judge a B&B on its convenience, its quaintness, its spectacular breakfasts, and its location, the Samuel Durfee House would always bring in a top rating. But, what makes this a truly exceptional place to stay: Michael and Heather, the owners. Our trip to Newport was the highlight of our vacation and much of that was thanks to the wonderful advice, excellent recommendations and historical perspective that Michael and Heather gave us. They are generous with their time and always have great anecdotes of Newport. Stay here, you will love it!
