The house and room were beautifully restored and transported you to a simpler time. Perfectly cozy and ideal for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our hostess was the sweetest, kindest lady you could hope to meet and her breakfast was to die for. The banana bread, in particular, was a delight. Nearby Historic Smithville offered a nice getaway, but not for seekers of fine dining. Jonathan Pitney House is highly recommended and this will not be my last visit.

From the online registration to my final checkout, this was a top notch experience. Staff could not be more accommodating, including printing recipe for delicious breakfast pastry. This experience was all that we hoped for and more. My wife who I lovingly call Elexahente ( I think that's correct for the demanding one ) gave me full compliments for picking this BANDB.

I have stayed at many B&B's throughout the years and the Jonathan Pitney House was head and shoulders above the rest. The room was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable. The snacks and breakfast were delicious and the staff was friendly, accommodating and genuinely interested in those who stayed at the inn. It was an incredible experience all the way around. Enjoy!!

My husband and I were visiting family on the East Coast and thought we would end our trip with a visit to Atlantic City. That is how we found the Jonathan Pitney House and how fortunate we were when we did. We visited the end of June 2017 for three nights and it was a wonderful stay. The place was beautifully decorated with antiques from one end of the house to the other. It has a very warm and comfortable feeling to it. And the best plantation style rocking chairs on the back porch, over looking the most vibrant colored flower gardens to sit and relax in.. It had such a calming and relaxing feeling to it. The free standing gate with lovely flowers planted all around the base of it was one of my favorites. We stayed in the Dr. Jonathan Pitney room with an old claw foot tub (to include a shower) and the most comfortable bed and bedding. The air conditioning felt wonderful or you could open the windows and let the cool evening breeze come in. And the breakfast was really something to write about. Each morning started off with coffee or tea (your choice) and fresh fruit. Then during our stay we had delicious lemon blueberry waffles with fresh blueberries, warm syrup and sausage on the side as well the most delectable homemade bread pudding (French toast) topped with blueberries, raspberries, and along with strawberries and sausage on the side. These were not to be outdone by the goat cheese (my choice of cheeses) omelet and a sweet potato hash browns. The entryway had fresh homegrown mint and lemon water or cucumber water everyday with homemade cookies in the cookie jar. We got a "sneak" peek at some of the other rooms and each one was spotlessly clean (including our own). The staff was warm and friendly and made us feel at home. It was a great place to stay and priced very affordably. We only wish we could visit way more often, and even though we live in California we will go back for a longer visit.

We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and I have to say that Jonathan Pitney is a new favorite! The house and grounds are stunning and impeccably cared for. Although it accommodates more guests than our usual stays, we always felt like we had plenty of space and privacy. The owners thought of all the little details to make your stay comfortable and relaxing, like snacks, water, and coffee available at all hours, toiletries in the room, easy check-in and out, wifi, etc etc. I could go on and on. Each staff member we met was super friendly without being imposing, and the breakfast was delicious!! We will definitely return!

I'm very picky with where I stay. But this place was so cute.. and CLEAN!! I loved the room we stayed in (the enock) room. And we got to enjoy the rocking chairs outside because we had beautiful weather. I would stay here again.

Wife of Dr. Pitney, Caroline was an elegant woman with charm. We have styled her room the same. Victorian wallpaper, antique dresser and corner gas fire place. You will sense the authenticity at first glance. Oversized chair and sitting area. Your bathroom has an old-fashioned claw foot tub/shower combo. Queen Bed.
A distinguished man with vision, his room is a reflection of his taste and talent. The striking deep-colored Victorian wallpaper will transport you to a time gone past. A gas corner fireplace and sitting area with classic leather chairs welcomes you in. The bathroom has a claw foot tub/shower combo with original brick
One moment in this room and you will feel a subtle reminder of the room’s past. A pale green Victorian wall paper with chair rail leaves no doubt that there is much Historic about this room. The beautiful restored antique dresser was on site when we purchased this building and we could not imagine this room without it. Corner fire place and oversized chair are arranged just right for some quiet relaxing. The bathroom has the 4 claw foot tub with shower combo. The Absecon Room is in the third floor and has a garden view.
Tucked into the eastern corner of the building, this room is settled in next to the widows peek on the third floor. Beautiful colonial green in color with an antique headboard you will not soon forget. This room blends historic design and modern conveniences. Gas fireplace with mantel and leather chairs add just the right amount of class and distinction. Your private bathroom has a 4 claw foot tub with shower, and the classic foundation peeking through helps to remind you that you are in a home from the 1800s.
This Third floor room is truly fit for a king. Regal in size and in decor. King size bed and sitting area. Large bathroom with the claw foot tub, shower combo. Looking for something with a romantic feel...this is your room.
The Study is our only first floor room in the main house. Colonial green in color, the Study offers a queen size bed and view of the garden area. With an oversized shower and easy exit to the outdoor sitting area, you will find this room not only elegant but convenient as well.
This second floor room with original hardwood floors is stunning but we did not stop there. The wood tones are carried throughout the room, leaving you with a true feel of the Colonial Era. There is a beautiful fire place with sitting area and a step in shower in the bathroom.
In 1799 Samuel Reed set out and built the original structure of the Pitney House. It is only fitting that we should name one of the original rooms after him. This elegant oversized room has a corner fireplace and King-size bed. You have plenty of space in this well-lit room and even a desk to sit a spell if you feel some creativity left by Samuel Reed come over you. The bathroom is larger than most with the 4 claw foot tub and shower combo.
