This B&B is a lovely old home, beautifully appointed. The hosts were gracious and were careful to ask what we planned for the day, so they could offer directions and/or suggestions. Breakfasts were varied and delicious. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it thoroughly. We highly recommend it!

While not in the tony village of Skaneatles, this Victorian decorated home is a mere 4 miles down East Lake Rd. A short drive or Uber and you are in the quaint lakeside village with its numerous shops and restaurants. A real value in a pricy town.

We were visiting the Finger Lakes Region of New York and wanted to stay close by and we were recommended to stay at Aunt Louise's Bed and Breakfast. We stayed three nights and found the hospitality and friendship of the owners to be down right very genuine. They served breakfast every morning and were extremely happy in listening to our travel stories as well as guiding us through our vacation to the finger lakes. I highly recommend anyone traveling to this area to stay here.

Louise and Dale, the proprietors, are extremely nice people and the place is very pretty and quaint. We would definitely stay with them again.
4,6 sur août 04, 2017
Louise and Dale were friendly and yet professional. They will chat with you about the house, the area, the lake and village--or, if you prefer, they will let you discover everything on your own (after they have shown you your room and explained the schedule for breakfast time). Their 1847 (?) house is beautifully filled with lovely period-style furnishings--all of which were very well-kept and very comfortable. The three bedrooms are large; two have en suite bathrooms--(one with a claw-foot tub)--and the third one is right next to its own bathroom in a common hallway. Baths are updated and well furnished with the usual necessities. Breakfast was a more-than-adequate continental breakfast--fresh fruit, yogurt, a couple of cereals, coffee or tea, orange juice. Plenty of common areas in which to relax: living room, with books and brochures about the local area, history and attractions, as well as a delightful patio in back of the house. (Unfortunately, the house is presently for sale, but is fully functioning as a top-notch B&B in the meantime, providing a wonderful spot to stay at a reasonable price. I would happily stay there again if it is still open when I visit Skaneateles again!)

Beautiful area and quaint town. Hosts were very gracious and helpful. Steep stairs to second floor bedrooms. Treetops room: creaky floors; spaces around door let in a lot of light; TV did not work properly; both of us hit our heads on slanted ceiling several times. Unfortunately, not our best night's rest. Left early next morning, did not want to wait until 9am for Continental breakfast.
1,6 sur mai 31, 2017
The innkeepers were very friendly, cordial, and informative of the local area. The stairs going to the second floor where the three bedrooms are, were drastically out of any form of building codes, since each step was extremely high and no railing close enough to assist in going up the stairs. There were even ropes used an assist. The room that we rented was badly in need of updating, specifically a new mattress and new pillows. The existing mattress was horrible and prevented a decent nights sleep, as with the pillows. There were spare pillows that must've been 50 years old, since they weighed about 20 pounds each, likely filled with dust mite fecies. While the room was clean superficially, it was severely in need of a thorough spring like cleaning. A full breakfast was promised, however due to the Ill health of the innkeepers, only a continental breakfast was provided. Overall, this was a poor bed and breakfast facility and would not recommend it to anyone.
3,8 sur octobre 21, 2016
Being an older home we knew what to expect - low slanted ceiling in our upstairs bedroom and one had to be careful not to bump their head. The stairs weren't mentioned - quite steep and narrow, no handrail - for elderly people who may have mobility issues it should be known. My hubby had a recent knee replacement and had to be very cautious. I was sneezing a fair bit while there, wasn't until we left and checked the room that I noted under the bed hadn't been vacuumed and wiped in a very long while. Having said the above, the grounds were impeccable, ample parking, delicious breakfast with lots of variety and home recipes, gracious, informative and kind hosts, comfortable beds, lots of hot water for showers. Suggestion: have a Keurig available in the sitting room, would have been nice to have a hot coffee or tea in the common room after a long day sightseeing. Extra comforter in the bedroom for cool nights. Put a slim handrail on the stairs.

Thank you for commenting on your stay with us. We feel badly for your misunderstanding regarding the stairs. The stairs are mentioned in our website and have been for our 16 years as innkeepers. The stairs are the original stairs to the 1837 home and typical for a post and beam home of that era. They do have a railing as required by insurance carriers. As always, each of our bedrooms have a blanket or comforter in the closet. Thank you for the suggestion regarding a Keurig coffee maker. Guests now have access to the Keurig 24 hours a day. We apologize for any inconvenience or discomfort you had during your stay with us.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very welcoming B&B with very nice lounge and outdoor spaces available for guests. House is lovely old onel, well furnished, but is not Lakeside - rather across the road from the lake but with lake views. Breakfast was very good, and Louise provided extremely good advice on things to do and see. We had Sunrise room with external bathroom (no shampoo but I could try a true Victorian experience and washed my hair with soap-modern shampoos are better!). Need to use car as no where really to walk to.

The B&B was a beautiful old home (built in 1837), white with black shutters. The grounds displayed several meticulously kept and beautiful landscaped gardens. Each room within was tastefully decorated, all with a plethora of amazing antique pieces of all sizes and purposes. Dale and Louise Zabel were wonderful "innkeepers". We had a wonderful 3 course breakfast our first morning there. First they brought us delicious poppy seed bread with marmalade, choice of juices & coffee or tea. Then we had fresh fruit cup, plus refills as wanted. Last but definitely not at all least, we each enjoy 2 fantastic coddled eggs, plus 4 pieces of bacon, and choice of English muffins, toast or bagels, again with any wanted refills. We felt very pampered and 'coddled' by meals' end. We would have loved to eat there the next morning, also, but had previously made plans for breakfast with a large group of friends. We enjoyed chatting with Dale and Louise, and still marvel at their ability to take such good care of the B&B, and us as well. They were wonderful hosts.

In spite of the unexpected rain and sleet on the evening we arrived at Aunt Louise's B & B, we had a most enjoyable stay in the Tree Tops room The view of the lake the next morning was lovely, bright and inspiring. Our gourmet breakfast of coddled eggs, bacon, fruit, special juices, coffee, and homemade sweet breads was wonderful! Dale and Louise were outstanding hosts and made us feel like family with their warm hospitality. Our room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and peaceful. We highly recommend this historic B & B and look forward to a longer stay next time we are in Skaneateles.

Our very first B&B experience turned out to be amazing!! Louise and Dale go out of their way to make you feel so very welcome in their home. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the soft background music creates a very relaxing atmosphere. Our "Lake View" room was roomy, clean, and very inviting. The bottle of wine left for us was a wonderful extra bonus, as we were on our Honeymoon. Our stay allowed us to enjoy 3 homemade breakfasts, which were beyond incredible!! Not only did Louise and Dale present our meals so wonderfully, they gave a brief explanation of each of their creations as they were served. Words can not say enough regarding the hospitality we enjoyed, the friendliness we received, and the atmosphere we loved. Again, in a word, AMAZING!!

Our party consisted of an 80 year old grandmother, 52 year old daughter and 19 year old college senior granddaughter. Aunt Louise and Dale made each of us feel so comfortable in their charming beautifully appointed period "Lake House" filled with family antiques that seemed to come alive with their storied history ....especially the "headless bride!" The warmth of their fireplace, delicious breakfast with its "secret ingredient," beautifully served and their colorful grounds covered with leaves each added to our reluctance to leave being a part of their family if only for a little while. Built in the mid-1800's, the B&B exemplified the service and comfort one would expect from staying at an authentic old house. We enjoyed our host and hostess, and our three night stay was a comfortable retreat after a long day of actvities. Our only disappointment was that the B&B was not right on the lake, but our room did have views of the lake, and you could see the lake from their strategically placed outdoor seating. It was one of the better B&B's we have stayed at over the years.

A great way to start exploring the Finger Lakes region - clean, cozy, and comfortable. Lovely gardens and view of the lake; each bedroom has its own bathroom. Easily accessible from town, with very warm, friendly, low-key hosts. Homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious (sample: lemon poppy seed bread, strawberries and bananas with mint, artichoke quiche, sausage, croissants, fresh juices and good, strong coffee) served at a communal table with genial conversation and pretty china. A romantic and intimate setting to create new memories.

I stayed at Aunt Louise's Lake House in Skaneateles 8/16/13 - 8/18/13. My stay there was wonderful. Louise and Dale are wonderful inn-keepers: friendly, informative, and helpful. The common areas and my room were clean and comfortable. The inn was remarkably quiet despite the fact that it was full. Breakfast was delicious and quite filling. The inn is located about 4 miles south of Skaneateles, across the road from the lake. This means that it is in a quiet location with easy access to the attractions in town. I fully intend to stay here the next time I am in Skaneateles.

This was our first stay at Aunt Louise's and our second overnighter in Skaneatelas. We have visted on previous occasions and are familiar with the area. Aunt Louise's is a very quaint and charming Inn and although our stay was short, Louise and Dale were very friendly and made us feel at home. We arrived Friday evening and due to family committments had to leave well before breakfast on Sunday (Dale made sure that the coffee was ready for us). Our breakfast with the other guests on Saturday was enjoyable. The Inn is a few miles outside of town and the grounds are lovely. There was a great view of the lake from our room ("Treetops") across the road. The bathroom was large, but as with most B&B's we've stayed at could use some additional counterspace for toiletries. Would like to stay here in the warmer months in order to enjoy all it has to offer.

Aunt Louise's was very charming. Louise couldn't do enough for you and was very attentive especially when it came to meal restrictions. We stayed in the larger room with it's own bath (Lake View). However, the view was across the street and minimal. The room was very comfortable but didn't have enough places for you to put your own things. I would have liked to see a shelf or table in the bathroom for our cosmetics instead of the small chair in the corner. The grounds were beautiful with lots of cozy places to sit and look at the lake across the street. It was about a 10 minute ride into the town.

We had 3 young kids in the group, and not once did we feel that they were not welcome. Each morning Louise, Dale and Ally took a lot of trouble to cater to all our individual needs and put out a new treat for the kids. Particularly loved the baked pears drizzled in raspberry sauce and the coddled eggs. They also lit a fire in the fireplace for us each day, which made it especiallyu cozy. You definitely won't walk away hungry. The innkeepers served very generous portions, and quality of the breakfast was top-notch. They were very accommodating to special dietary needs. Although the rooms weren't particularly memorable, they were comfortable. Make sure to bring your own toiletries. Only soap was provided for guests. We liked the location. The views of the lake were magnificent, and the drive into town was scenic.

The innkeepers go out of their way to ensure the comfort of their guests. From the friendly greeting upon our arrival, the outstanding and delicious breakfasts, and the beautiful location overlooking the lake, Aunt Louise's B&B is a very special place.

Our stay at Aunt Louise's was wonderful. Delightful accommodations, superlative hosts, delicious gourmet breakfasts in the gorgeous surroundings of Skaneateles Lake. Our hosts out did themselves when following a storm that knocked out the power in the surrounding area they proceeded to cook our breakfast on their BBQ. It was a wonderful breakfast non-the-less coddled eggs and all. We plan to return and highly recommend this little B.B gem. Adrian & Vivian Kyte Burlington, Ontario.

The innkeepers were very, very nice and accommodating. Lake View room was large, but the bathroom was very small. Tiny TV, noisy air conditioner, no amenities to speak of. Pictures on the web are a little deceiving. Grounds are lovely, but nowhere to go without a car.

Recently stayed at Aunt Louise's Bed & Breakfast in Skaneateles, NY. It is 4 miles out of town and sits directly on a very heavy, high traffic road. 3 rooms in the Inn, only one is rentable. Our room was small, dormer ceilings, small, inadequate bathroom. Breakfast was ok, but heavy on sugar and calories. People nice however don't seem to be experienced B&B owners. On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give this a 2.....very pricey. You can see the lake from front of house however it is across the highway...this is not a lake front property, picture is very deceiving.

We had a great time and plan on making Aunt Louise's Lake House a place that we visit on a frequent basis...the rooms, the breakfast, the innkeepers were just amazing...we can't say enough good things about this B&B

We stayed in the LakeView Suite. The room was very nice, and had a great view of the lake. Louise and Dale were extremely friendly, and helpful, and prepared an elegant breakfast. Overall, for the price, hospitality, and location this BB is a winner, and future spot for us again.

Our first visit to Aunt Louise's Lake House B&B was a great experience on a warm September weekend in 2009, that we decided to visit again in March,2011. We stayed at the B&B with another couple and found the hospitality, comfort and charm just wonderful. The house offers a choice of spending time together with others by the fire or enjoying some R&R comfortably in the rooms. Great suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat at, were given the first time, that we booked some of them again on the next visit. Delicious breakfasts with other guests were so much fun, especially with the great service and sense of humor from our hosts Louise and Dale. See you again, soon !

The house is beautiful and the breakfast great. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. The cons: It is a little strange having the bathroom outside of the room (for the room we stayed in). Luckily we had no one else staying in the house but they wouldn't let us upgrade to a better room (with a bathroom) without paying the difference. I found that a bit annoying since no one else was there anyways.

While on a whirl wind trip through the region, a friend recommended we stay at Aunt Louise's Lake House. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The house has a wonderful history overlooking one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever seen. The topper was their breakfast. It was outstanding! Not only a gourmet meal filled with unbelievable flavors and aromas, but the dining room setting was so very nice. We ate in a family setting with other guests and we all had a most pleasant experience. Like I said from the beginning, we wish we could have stayed longer!

"There is no place like home" however when you arrive you and are greeted by Dale and Louise, you are home. They are two wonderful people that are generous in their home. My wife and I spent 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. Breakfast was a first class treat. Every morning was a special time and very comfortable in the dining room. The location is a nice spot and the backyard is zen. We will return in the future.

Everything about this trip was peaceful and calm. From the way we were treated to the time we left. Beautiful veiw of the lake, and flower gardens at the inn. Definitely going to plan a return trip. Beacause of the most gracious host. Aunt Louise and Dale who made this trip.

This was my first B&B and I was treated with pure hospitality. There was always a roaring fire to sit in front of. An old time crawfoot bath tub awaited me at night. The breakfast was the most unique one I have ever had; from baked apples and grapefruit, to imported juices and coddled eggs. The views from the house were breathtaking.

This is the finest B&B this side of Heaven. The hand of friendship accompanied the gift of truly wonderful hospitality.

Clean and pretty comfortable. Did not care for the sunrise room ... one small window, mostly filled up by a window air conditioner. I've stayed in a number of bed and breakfasts, and this one feels more like staying with relatives. Gardens are quite pretty ... the lake is viewed across the road and between the houses. The hosts are very nice and had great dining suggestions. Skaneateles is a pretty little town ... the downtown is not in walking distance of the B&B.
