River Getaway

5 sur juillet 04, 2017

My husband and I stayed at the Schenck Mansion because it was part of a Christmas gift package from our children through, so we really didn't know what to expect. However, we could not have been more pleased. The Mansion is quiet and beautiful. It is like taking a step back in time. The entire property is elegant but comfortable. The innkeeper is friendly and extremely knowledgeable and a great cook. The breakfast was delicious. If you want to take a relaxing trip along the Ohio River, you should make a stay at the Schenck Mansion one of your stops.

the BEST b&b!

5 sur février 19, 2016

My brother gifted my husband and I two nights at Schenck Mansion and it is the best bed and breakfast we have stayed at. Being NYC transplants we were skeptical about a relaxing weekend in southern Indiana, but the accommodations were exceptionally comfortable and beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised! Michelle is an absolute delight and cooked us an incredibly delicious breakfast each morning. We spent most of our time soaking in the fabulous copper bath tub and lounging by the fire (with lots of hot coffee). Michelle really made our stay feel special. We felt like we were visiting an old friend and we cannot wait to return.

Wow I'm Staying Here?

5 sur juillet 21, 2015

I said to myself as I pulled up to Schenck Mansion. The view of the property from the road is stunning. Fortunately the entire property lives up to the first impression. A 3-story building guest areas are on the 1st & 2nd floor All rooms have large private baths in the room-none of that dashing down a hall to your bathroom. Most of the bathrooms contain a large copper bathtub/shower combination. The rooms are very spacious & decorated in the style of the late 1800s. Each room has a television. . Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor. The main breakfast dish was something very clever, unique and very good. The food was plentiful – you don’t leave the table hungry! The ground floor has 3 indoor guest seating areas. There is a large porch on the ground floor & an even larger veranda on the 2nd floor for guests to enjoy. Coffee, tea, sodas & cookies are available all day. After breakfast I took coffee out on the veranda & watched 3 young deer wander in the backyard which includes a gazebo, waterfall & barbeque picnic area all available to guests. I had two minor issues. I was there in the summer & A/C was a necessity. The first night it ran all night & was very loud. I adjusted the thermostat my second evening so that it didn’t come on. I don’t know if this happens in all of the rooms or just in my room, which was the Justine Schenck Room. The only other problem that I had was the wifi. I have Sprint & there is almost no signal where the Mansion is located. As such I needed to rely on WiFi to check my email & conduct some business. You sign on as a guest & are limited to one hour a day. If you disconnect at any time during that hour you are done for the day. .I have taken to staying in Bed and Breakfast properties a lot over the last 3 years and this is by far the nicest one in which I have stayed. I highly recommend it.

The Mansion Called Us Back . . .

5 sur octobre 15, 2012

You really need to see the mansion in is beyond GRAND. Lisa and Jerry, along with their staff, will make your stay a memorable one also. The home, the grounds, the porches....I could go on and on. Staying once, we were called back to return, and I feel sure it won't be our last visit. Thank you! A sisters' trip the first time, then we just had to share it with our husbands.

A Gem of an Inn in Vevay, Indiana

5 sur septembre 27, 2010

Pictures on the website at don’t do justice to the beautiful Schenck Bed and Breakfast at Vevay, Indiana. The mansion was built by Benjamin F. Schenck in the 1870s on the banks of the Ohio River about an hour's drive midway between Louisville and Cincinnati. After the building fell into disrepair and was finally abandoned, it was purchased by Lisa and Jerry in 1998 and lovingly restored. They have gone above and beyond what one might expect in order to preserve the beauty of the mansion and daily make every effort to provide for the comfort and pleasure of their guests. The five guest rooms/suites available at the mansion are quite spacious with plush carpeting, elegant furnishings and working fireplaces. The private baths are one of the few places in existence where guests can relax or shower in an original copper tub. Amenities include a wonderful breakfast prepared by Lisa and Jerry and home baked cookies for an evening snack. With a little encouragement, Lisa will share the long and interesting history of the home. And guests are encouraged to explore all 35 rooms of the mansion at their leisure. A night or two at the mansion is just the ticket for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or, perhaps, a bit of romance. The cost is surprisingly inexpensive, and once you’ve visited the first time, chances are you’ll come back again and again. It's hard to imagine a nicer, cleaner or more elegant B&B!

Peaceful Retreat

5 sur janvier 22, 2010

We stayed 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday, January 16 & 17, 2010. Our room was on the first floor and was the largest room we have ever stayed in at at B & B. Our room and the entire mansion were exceptionally immaculate! Everything from the furniture, linens, and food was top notch. Although the mansion is large, it was very comfortable and very welcoming. We definitely will stay again!!! Thanks Lisa and Jerry for a wonderful stay at your establishment.

Best Bed and Breakfast -- EVER!

May husband and I stay here every year for our Halloween anniversary. Lisa is a gem, warm and accomodating and very interesting. She has lovingly restored the mansion and it is absolutely stunning. We love this bed & breakfast and can't imagine staying any other place.

Elegance at it's Best

Lisa, owner, is a such a joy and made us feel right at home. The mansion is awesome and the bed was possibly the most comfortable bed in which I have slept. I can't wait to go back to this charming town, but most importantly this great place to stay. My husband and I are so glad we found it!
