The Sanders makes a stop in Helena special. The building has a rich history -- having been the home of Montana's first territorial governor, Colonel Sanders -- and it has been beautifully restored by the owners, Bobbi Uecker and Rock Ringling in a way that honors its history and is wonderful to stay in. The rooms are large and filled with period antiques that honor it's Queen Anne heritage. The bathrooms are modern and immaculate. The breakfast is great, and over several visits have found the guests and the hosts engaging. In fact, as much as the house, we look forward to seeing the hosts, Bobbi Uecker and Rock Ringling, when we go. Heck, a guy named Rock who is a descendant of the Ringling Brothers Circus, and a woman who is a distant cousin of baseball player Bob Uecker have to be fun! Helena's chain hotels seem fine, but hardly unique. The Sanders is a bed and breakfast well worth staying at for the same price as a chain.
