Warm, thoughtfully decorated B&B, with lovely antiques. Each room had its own charm--a balcony overlooking backyard and pond; a four poster bed, etc. The owner, Jackie, was a very gracious hostess, serving plentiful breakfasts, topped off with wonderful breakfast desserts (bread pudding and banana pudding from an old family recipe). Adding to the charm was a delightfully vocal parrot, who mimicked the fire alarm system (we were told to ignore the sound unless there was water pouring down the walls--and smoke). And if you should happen to fall in her presence she will acknowledge with "oh, oh". We had an excellent stay and would highly recommend the Orange Street B&B to anyone considering a visit to St. Augustine.

Jackie is a very kind and welcoming hostess and Kelly, her assistant, was delightful and fun-loving. They both made us feel comfortable being in Jackie's home. The breakfasts were phenomenal...three courses...fruit, entree, and breakfast dessert! We stayed in Hattie's Room which was large and comfortable. The only thing I would do to improve the en-suite bathroom is hang a hook above the tub on the wall to accommodate the shower head and hose. It currently is a hand-held device and somewhat difficult to maneuver. If you like a huge jacuzzi tub, however, you will enjoy staying in this room.

My husband and I spent our "Christmas Honeymoon" at 63 Orange Street B & B, and we couldn't have stayed at nicer place. The innkeeper, Jackie, is lovely as are her helpers, Kelly and Wren. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, our room was superb! We had a comfortable, clean king size 4 poster bed and a huge jaccuzzi tub in our private bathroom. Very romantic. We spent 3 days/nights. Our breakfasts were tastey, elegantly plated not to mention filling, and the breakfast desserts were excellent! Jackie, Kelly and Wren made our stay feel like we were at home with the family for the holidays. We will definitely stay with Jackie again on our next trip to St. Augustine.

A friend and I had the good fortune to spend a couple of nights at this lovely B&B. The inn is conveniently located just a couple of blocks from historic St George Street and walking distance to all the attractions. We had a charming suite with a queen bed in the bedroom and a day bed in the attached sun room. Our private balcony was a lovely spot to enjoy our morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening I can't say enough nice things about the owner, Jackie. She made our stay even more enjoyable, cooking lovely breakfasts, delivering morning coffee to the landing outside our room, and offering suggestions on dining, etc. The free parking was an added bonus. I would not hesitate to recommend 63 Orange Street to anyone wanting a quiet, convenient B&B in St. Augustine.
Maud's Room, overlooking the upstairs front porch, is an elegant and beautifully Victorian room, softly bright and cheerful. The 125 year old set of English walnut furniture is comprised of a queen-sized bed with 7' high headboard, matching armoire and marble top dresser, and a shaving stand. A lovely ivory colored crocheted bedspread was made by Jackie’s grandmother more than 50 years ago. The hallway bathroom has a clawfoot soaking tub (with added shower head) original to this house. Robes have been provided for your comfort. (For the convenience of extended families this room and Hattie’s room have connecting doors.)
Maud is one of the Shorter sisters who was raised in this house. She became an English teacher and principal and lived here throughout her 48 years of teaching and into her retirement.
Hattie's Room is a wonderfully romantic room with a marvelous king-sized mahogany four-poster bed and extra large whirlpool tub in the large luxurious bathroom. This white-beige decorated room, with white lacy curtains at the windows, lacy and ruffley lampshades and a pair of comfortable beige easy chairs, this room invites your attention. An old Singer treadle sewing machine and antique Martha Washington sewing cabinet serve as occasional tables. Hand built French doors to the bathroom are curtained in lace to provide to provide privacy and atmosphere. It was in this room that we f
Effie Florence's Room has a charming bedroom set from the 1920's consisting of a 3/4 poster queen-sized bed, armoire, vanity and dresser. An inviting overstuffed chair and a wicker rocker offer place to sit and relax. The hallway bathroom is the original bathroom to the house with the original clawfoot tub (and shower) and century old corner sink from Flagler’s Alcazar Hotel. Robes are provided in the armoire for your comfort. Just outside the door is the entrance to the shady upstairs front porch where you can relax in porch rockers under ceiling fans.
Effie is another of the Shorter sisters who was raised here. A copy of her journal, written as a young school teacher at the beginning of the 20th Century, is in the room.
Bessie's Room, a beautifully Victorian room, is the favorite of many visitors. It is furnished with matched set of 125 year old furniture made of English walnut, with a 7' high headboard on the queen-sized bed, and 8 ½’ tall armoire, and marble-topped dresser and large wash stand. Beyond lace-curtained French doors is the private bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower. A private balcony under a large shady oak tree is the perfect spot for your early morning cup of coffee or late night glass of wine.
Hattie Antinica Besye Vedder, this room’s namesake, was born in this house on August 12, 1884, the youngest child of Charles John and Harriet Louisa Vedder, who were the first owners. Before the bed and breakfast opened, I met Bessie’s great-grandchildren who still live in Northeast Florida and have shared family history with me.
Kates's Room is a suite with a queen-sized iron bed and an armoire in the front room and a small sunny sitting area with day bed in what was once an upstairs back porch. The daybed makes this room suitable for a third person.* Because these rooms are sunny and bright, they are decorated in a quaint and nostalgic old Florida style. The bathroom with old-fashioned soaking tub/shower is off the sitting room. A private balcony overlooking the flower gardens and small goldfish pond makes this room a special delight for everyone who stays here.
Kate Shorter is one of the Shorter sisters who was raised in this house from about 1900 until they were grown. Kate later returned to live here with her sister Maud who owned the house for many decades.
