We stopped in fo a night on our way up I-5 and was delighted to find this sleepy little town with such a great BnB. They had a special pet friendly room for our three little rascals with a relaxing, old-west porch in front. The new steak house in the mercantile building is terrific and there is even a craft distillery that just opened down the street. We will certainly be back to visit Darlene and Kevin on our next adventure. Thanks again! Brad & Heidi

This is our second visit to the McCloud River Mercantile Inn, the first being when it first opened 10 years ago. Well, it is just as special and now the ground floor is filled with stores, a tavern, and a cafe. I was once again impressed by the class act the owners have pulled off - the rooms are beautiful and the bathrooms are equally superb. I don't think I've ever said that about a place before!

We had just come from another historic hotel, where the experience was not good, so we arrived with trepidation at this one. We stayed in the Minnesota room, which was large, filled with light, and had a great bathroom (double sinks, beautiful colors). We loved the details in the room--wallpaper, wainscotting, high ceilings. The breakfast next door ($20 credit from the hotel) was also great--we had fresh veggie omelets that were far superior to our last stay. The owners of the hotel were delighted to hear how much we enjoyed our stay, and we will go back!

Darlene, Kevin and their staff make this the best ever place to stay in the Mount Shasta area. Wish we could come more often!

My husband and I fell in love with the charm of The McCloud River Mercantile Inn. We stayed in the Minnesota Room and it was beautiful! We ate breakfast and lunch at the cafe and loved it! Unfortunately the restaurant/bar was closed but we got a chance to peek in the window and it looks fabulous. We will be back for sure!

A lot of nicer hotels in this general area were through the roof expensive. This place was reasonable by comparison, but after staying there and seeing what you get I would say it's a great deal. You get $20 of your breakfast at the local cafe comped too. Very nice for the price. Just book well in advance, more than 6 months I'd say, because it fills up fast in the summer.

This was our favorite B&B that we stayed at on our 7 day road trip. We loved the buidling and our room so much and the owner was so amazingly nice. We would go back here in a heartbeat.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this inn! Checking in was a breeze. The room itself was wonderful, decorated beautifully, had the A.C. running which was good because it was a hot day out. The claw foot tub in the room was amazing. The double headed shower in the bathroom was great. I can't say enough wonderful things about this room and about the mercantile hotel in general. They have two dining options available for breakfast, the Kyody Cafe for more of a coffee special and some breakfast items like waffles and breakfast burritos, or the White Mountain Cafe for a real sit down diner feel. I had the most amazing omelette from the White Mountain Cafe on the second morning. After checking out and heading to Lake Siskiyou, we realized we left a bag in our room. We went back to the front desk and they were so helpful, the person cleaning the room was so nice, located our bag and returned it right away. We ended up staying at another inn for the last night of our trip, just to experience what McCloud had to offer, hands down this inn was way better. Next time I come to McCloud I will no doubt be staying at the McCloud River Mercantile Inn.

Loved this inn! We stayed in the Railroad Room and GG's attic with our group of 7. The rooms were huge and so nicely decorated. Very comfy beds. Wonderful views of Mt Shasta from in front of the inn. Breakfast was great at the corner restaurant. We met some really nice people in McCloud. The McCloud Falls are a short 10 minute drive from the inn. All the rooms are upstairs, so that is something to consider if you have any issues with mobility. The owners were very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!
